Position Summary:
The Director of Public Relations & Community Engagement is a senior leadership role responsible for leading the hospital’s marketing, communications, and community outreach efforts. This position focuses on strengthening community awareness, building trust, and supporting organizational sustainability through effective communication, engagement, and relationship development. This role will play a key part in ensuring transparent and consistent communication regarding hospital services, long-term planning, and community health needs, while supporting initiatives that enhance patient access, service utilization, and community partnerships.
Essential Job Duties:
Community Engagement & Public Education: Develop and execute a comprehensive community engagement strategy. Serve as a visible representative of the hospital within the community. Ensure clear, transparent, and consistent communication regarding hospital services, priorities, and future planning efforts. Marketing & Public Relations Strategy: Develop and oversee implementation of a marketing and communications plan. Service Line Awareness & Volume Growth: Support increased utilization of hospital services. Develop messaging and outreach strategies to improve community awareness and access. Community Partnerships & Relationship Development: Identify opportunities to strengthen the hospital’s role in the community. Foundation & Philanthropic Support: Align outreach activities with opportunities to enhance philanthropic support. Leadership & Team Oversight: Supervision over the Business Development Coordinator & the Community Outreach & Engagement Coordinator. Performance & Reporting: Provide regular updates to executive leadership. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Healthcare Administration, or related field. Five (5+) years of leadership experience in marketing, communications, public relations, or community engagement. Demonstrated ability to lead initiatives with measurable outcomes. BLS certification. Preferred: Experience in rural healthcare or community-based organizations. Experience working with public stakeholders or community initiatives. Strong understanding of relationship-based engagement strategies. Spanish Bi-lingual skills preferred.
