Job Description

What you will be doing:

  • Direct the personnel, operational, and financial activities of the pharmacy services function for the assigned operating unit.
  • Identify the need for policy development and/or revision, and define policies in collaboration with higher-level management, input, goals, and objectives.
  • Oversee or direct the development, implementation, and/or revision of function procedures/protocols in accordance with system-wide goals and objectives.
  • Approve procedures/protocols and/or seek other departmental approvals as appropriate.
  • Develop, monitor, and revise functional processes in accordance with system-wide goals and objectives.
  • Provide input into the development and revision of organizational structure for the function.
  • Approve personnel actions such as hires, fires, disciplines, etc.
  • Ensure the timely completion of performance appraisals.
  • Develop current to intermediate goals and measures for a major function.
  • Measure and assess performance.
  • Assist in long-range goal development as requested.
  • Assist in the development of and monitor the budget for a major function.
  • Monitor activities for and ensure compliance with laws, government regulations, JCAHO requirements, and compnay policies.
  • Implement external and internal audit recommendations as directed.
  • Ensure hospital departments achieve objectives for diversity of their suppliers.

Experience you will need:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree or Master's degree in Pharmacy, Business Administration, or comparable graduate degree. Postgraduate residency training and/or additional coursework in business administration preferred.
  • Three to five years of experience in pharmacy administration in a hospital setting, including two to three years of supervisory/leadership experience. Pediatric experience highly preferred.
  • Registered Pharmacist and Controlled Substance licensures in the State of Michigan obtained within 3 months of entry into the job.
