POSITION SUMMARY:

Develops and coordinates the retail and integrated clinical pharmacy services in alignment with ANHC mission, vision, values. Oversees pharmacy compliance with State and Federal regulations as well HRSA 340B program. Plans, organizes, and develops budget and staffing needs for pharmacy.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops the Center's pharmacy plan based on quality patient care and budgetary confines. Participates in development of pharmacy financial plan and budget, with ongoing monitoring and evaluation.
  • Maintains 340B policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
  • Reviews and audits all contract pharmacies.
  • Monitors and negotiates all purchasing contracts with vendors.
  • Responsible for coordinating, at a minimum, biannual inventory.
  • Monitors contracts with insurance payers where necessary.
  • Prepares and recommends qualifications, job descriptions and evaluation standards for pharmacy employees and ensure that the qualifications are maintained.
  • Maintains and periodically reviews and updates established policies and procedures concerning quality assurance, risk and compliance, security of controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous waste drugs, among others. Serves as primary contact in for provider issues.
  • Maintains the pharmacy's state and DEA licenses.
  • Oversees the vaccine program, ensuring program compliance.
  • Direct Supervisor to pharmacy staff, both retail and clinical pharmacy.
  • Responsible for annual staff performance reviews, coaching and mentoring, and any conflict resolution needs.
  • Participates in various organizational committees and meetings.
  • Develops, implements and oversees innovative retail and integrated clinical pharmacy services for patients including both Clinical and Retail services.
  • Oversees and develops mail order, medset, and clinical pharmacy programs.
  • Develops and oversees the Pharmacy Collaborative Practice Agreement (CPA) in collaboration with the Chief Medical Officer, adhering to the CPA's scope of services.
  • Participates in integrated clinical care and retail pharmacy services when the need arises.
  • Works with the Information Technology Department to implement and maintain new technology equipment
  • Develops and oversees the Pharmacy Student program at ANHC.
  • Maintains and procures Pharmacy Program relationships.
  • Scouts for new vendors and services that will increase ANHC 340B savings (Third Party administrators, 340B compliance programs, monthly auditing programs).
  • Seeks community partnership in order to increase ANHC pharmacy service reach to those patients in remote areas.

Work is performed in a healthcare clinic and office setting. ANHC is a tobacco-free campus.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Work Experience: Minimum two-year experience required with at least one year of management experience preferred. Experience working with pharmacy specific software programs preferred.

Education, Certification and Licensure: Graduation from an accredited school of pharmacy. Licensed by the Alaska State Board of Pharmacy. Must have and maintain current BLS certification.

Additional Skills & Knowledge: Bilingual preferred.
