Overview

Position Summary: 

ABM Industries is seeking a Director of Operations to support our Business & Industry Group. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Operations, the Director will lead day-to-day operational execution across a defined region or portfolio, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities while driving performance, efficiency, and growth.

The ideal candidate is a strong operational leader with a facilities management background or deep industry knowledge, and experience managing services across a diverse client base.

Responsibilities

Executes the strategic direction set by the Vice President of Operations across assigned operations    

  • Partners with senior and regional leadership to meet company goals and operational targets    
  • Supports cross-functional collaboration to deliver on organizational priorities    
  • Responsible for operational performance, client satisfaction, and profitability within assigned region or accounts    
  • Oversees daily operations to ensure quality, consistency, and adherence to company standards    
  • Drives adoption of company service offerings and go-to-market initiatives    
  • Builds and maintains strong client and partner relationships    
  • Leads and develops Regional Directors, Branch Managers, and/or District Managers    
  • Supports customer retention and growth through service excellence and continuous improvement    
  • Resolves complex operational issues with guidance from senior leadership as needed    
  • Identifies and implements process improvements, technologies, and efficiencies    
  • Ensures compliance with operational policies, procedures, and standards    
  • Reviews operational reports, staffing plans, and cost controls    
  • Partners with sales teams to support growth initiatives and client expansion    
  • Collaborates with HR and Legal on labor relations and workforce strategies    
  • Manages and adheres to assigned budgets and financial targets    
  • Provides performance reporting and insights to the Vice President of Operations    
  • Stays current on industry trends and operational best practices    
  • Identifies training needs and supports development programs    
  • Performs other duties as assigned    

Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities:  

  • Strong understanding of financial and operational metrics    
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines    
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills    
  • Proven leadership and team development capabilities    
  • Knowledge of industry best practices and service delivery models    
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills    
  • High attention to detail and organizational skills    
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite    

Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in operations or related field   
  • 7–10 years plus of relevant experience, including leadership roles   
  • 3–5 years of operational leadership experience   
  • Experience supporting P&L or budget accountability preferred
