We are seeking a highly dynamic, experienced, and hands‑on Director of Operations (RN) to oversee agency operations while actively supporting clinical excellence and patient care in the field. This role is ideal for a confident, strategic leader who understands both the clinical and operational sides of home‑based care - and who is willing to roll up their sleeves whenever needed.

This is not a desk‑only leadership role. The Director of Operations must be ready to provide patient care when needed, support their nurses in the field in real time, and ensure that all operational systems run smoothly across the agency.

Why This Role Matters

As the Director of Operations, you will be the operational and clinical backbone of the organization - the person who ensures the agency runs efficiently, patients receive safe, high‑quality care, and staff feel supported, empowered, and aligned.

This role is also a succession‑track leadership position. The individual who excels here will be positioned to assume full executive responsibility for the agency. As the role grows, profit-sharing and equity (ownership) opportunities may become available.

You'll Thrive Here If You Are

  • A hands‑on operator who is willing to jump into patient care or field support whenever needed
  • A strategic thinker who can manage systems, processes, and people with clarity and accountability
  • Clinically strong, with the confidence to support nurses in complex care situations
  • A natural mentor, able to delegate, coach, guide, and elevate both clinical and administrative staff
  • Calm under pressure, especially during after‑hours calls, staffing challenges, or urgent needs
  • Operationally disciplined, with a passion for efficiency, quality, and continuous improvement
  • Compassionate, with a genuine commitment to patient dignity and safety

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Oversee daily agency operations to ensure seamless, efficient service delivery
  • Lead cross‑departmental coordination between clinical, administrative, scheduling, and customer service teams
  • Manage staffing models, workload distribution, and resource allocation
  • Ensure operational readiness for audits, surveys, and accreditation processes
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support strategic planning and growth initiatives

Clinical Leadership & Field Support

  • Serve as the on‑call clinical and operational resource for field staff
  • Support nurses and aides in the field with troubleshooting, clinical decision‑making, and escalation management
  • Provide hands‑on nursing care as needed, including urgent visits, supervisory visits, and complex case support
  • Conduct patient assessments, develop care plans, and ensure documentation compliance and accuracy
  • Coordinate care with physicians, therapists, hospitals, and other healthcare professionals

People Leadership

  • Lead and manage both clinical and administrative staff, including:
    • Field nurses and nursing assistants
    • Clinical administrative support
    • Customer care and scheduling staff
    • Remote administrative support team
  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate team members across all departments
  • Oversee onboarding, training, and competency validation for new hires
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence

Compliance & Quality Oversight

  • Maintain compliance with state regulations, accreditation standards, and HIPAA
  • Review EMR documentation for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness
  • Ensure adherence to agency policies, clinical protocols, and quality standards
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives and corrective action plans

Required Qualifications

  • Active, unrestricted RN license in Ohio
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or healthcare management
  • Minimum 5 years of clinical experience in high‑acuity settings (ICU, ED, critical care, or similar)
  • Minimum 3-5 years of leadership experience, including operational oversight
  • Strong clinical assessment skills and comfort with both acute and chronic care
  • Experience supervising or supporting field nurses (home health, hospice, or community‑based care preferred but not required)
  • Demonstrated ability to manage operations, workflows, and cross‑functional teams
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills
  • Proficiency with technology and EMR systems
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel throughout the service area
  • CPR certification, TB clearance, and up‑to‑date vaccinations, including COVID, Influenza, MMR, and Hepatitis B
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks related to patient care

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary and performance bonuses based on operational and clinical leadership experience
  • Profit-sharing and equity (ownership) opportunity
  • Weekly direct deposit
  • Medical, dental, vision, and supplemental insurance
  • PTO and bereavement leave
  • Paid training and continuing education
  • Employee wellness perks and a team‑focused culture
