Job Summary and Qualifications

In collaboration with the Division AVP of the Transfer Center, the Operations Director of the National Transfer Center is responsible for effectively leading all aspects of the transfer center operation, including the design and implementation of new programs, processes, and functions within the center. This position will lead all hiring of transfer center staff, have direct reporting authority for the Transfer Center Clinical Manager, and is responsible for the development of the team including all training. The Operations Director will assist in leading the transfer strategy across the division by collaborating with division and hospital leadership to drive strategic alignment that results in enhanced clinical outcomes for our patients and increased growth through the center into HCA. This includes rollout of new initiatives and workflows, such as central patient placement and discharge transportation, gaining buy-in from division and hospital leaders, physicians, and staff for successful implementation at all levels. This position provides support to the Division AVP at times serving as a primary customer lead to key division and hospital leaders, as well as taking lead on requested division wide initiatives.

As the Director of Operations for the HCA Transfer Centers, you will:

  • Serve as primary point of contact with Division AVP of Transfer Center in leading day to day transfer center operations; including strategic partnerships/affiliations, vendor management and enterprise contracting
  • Oversee all transfer center hiring, training, and staff development
  • Analyze all aspects of transfer and patient intake processes for potential improvement opportunities within both Transfer Center operations and hospital operations. Relay these to Division AVP of Transfer Center and through collaboration, design with facility leaders process, systems, procedures, and operational changes to increase efficiency and effectiveness
  • Work with division and hospital management, departmental and interdepartmental staff and physicians in identifying any issues or barriers to optimal patient care and growth. Work through these in alignment with leadership and in collaboration with the Division AVP.
  • Improve/maintain the delivery of quality service through effective environmental, qualitative and technical monitoring programs to build greater customer satisfaction, loyalty and retention. Identify trends and innovative measures that can be leveraged to drive results
  • Establish realistic but challenging expectations, measurable objectives and goals by designing and managing the structure and processes necessary for efficient operations, achievement of clinical performance and projected growth
  • In collaboration with the Division AVP, develop and implement transfer center standards for general administrative/operations, policies and procedures, productivity/staffing and training that are in alignment with Corporate Transfer Center direction
  • Assist in the development of the annual division transfer center strategic plan, presenting portions when appropriate
  • Develop and provide recommendations regarding: capital requests, division strategic partnerships/affiliations and vendor selection
  • Collaborate with division emergency preparedness and supports the Division AVP of Transfer Center for any needed patient evacuation efforts in the event of emergent circumstances across the division or Enterprise

Qualifications

Education and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree (4 Year Program)
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in nursing operations
  • Previous Leadership experience in Transfer Center operations
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and data analytics
  • Excellent communication skills

Preferences:

  • Master’s degree (1-2 Year Program)
  • RN licensure preferred
  • 10 years’ experience in Nursing/Transfer Center operations
  • Data Analytics experience
