Director of Operations
Jersey City, NJ  |  Full-Time  |  approx. $85-110K plus performance bonus

The Opportunity:
This is a rare chance to step into a high-impact role where you will work directly with the owner to shape the operational backbone of the company. You will have broad responsibility across our mail order division, warehouse operations, and the internal sales function for corporate gifting. This is not a position for someone who needs direction at every turn — it's for a self-starter who can walk into an established team, earn their trust, and move the organization forward.

You will be based primarily in Jersey City, NJ (warehouse/operations) with regular presence at the NYC location.

Key Responsibilities:
Operations & Warehouse Management
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the mail order division and wholesale warehouse in Jersey City
  • Manage warehouse staff and office team members; set clear expectations and hold people accountable to their roles
  • Identify inefficiencies across workflows, fulfillment, and logistics and implement meaningful improvements
  • Build and maintain systems and processes that scale with company growth
  • Ensure accurate inventory management, order accuracy, and on-time fulfillment
Leadership & Team Development
  • Step into a team with strong tenure and a established culture — bring fresh energy and a collaborative approach to driving change
  • Coach and develop team members; inspire ownership, initiative, and pride in their work
  • Foster accountability without creating friction; lead by example and bring people along
  • Work closely with the owner on strategic priorities and company direction
Corporate Gifting Sales & Account Management
  • Manage a team of direct reports across operations and fulfillment, including one internally focused sales person dedicated to B2B and corporate gifting
  • Oversee the operational execution of corporate gifting orders — from intake and customization through fulfillment and delivery
  • Serve as a project manager for large or complex gifting accounts, ensuring deadlines and client expectations are met
  • Identify opportunities to grow the corporate gifting channel and support sales outreach where needed
Retail Coordination
  • Develop a working understanding of the retail store operations to ensure alignment across business channels
  • Serve as an operational resource to the retail team when needed, without direct management responsibility
Strategic Growth
  • Partner with the owner to identify growth opportunities and remove operational roadblocks
  • Bring a solutions-first, entrepreneurial mindset to every challenge
  • Help define and implement structure that allows the business to grow sustainably

What We're Looking For:
  • 3+ years of operations, logistics, or fulfillment management experience — ideally in a specialty retail, e-commerce, or food/gift brand environment
  • Proven ability to lead teams through change; especially teams that are tenured and may be resistant to new ways of working
  • Entrepreneurial spirit: you see problems as puzzles, not roadblocks
  • Strong project management skills, particularly in a high-SKU, seasonal, or order-driven business
  • Experience with or exposure to B2B/corporate sales a strong plus
  • Confident communicator who can build trust with both leadership and front-line team members
  • No hand-holding required — you take initiative, manage up proactively, and own your outcomes
  • Familiarity with warehouse management systems, order management platforms, or e-commerce fulfillment tools preferred
  • Ability to work across two locations (Jersey City, NJ and Chelsea, NYC)
Benefits:
  • Performance bonus tied to company growth metrics
  • Opportunity to grow with a company that has deep roots and real momentum
  • Direct access to and partnership with ownership
  • A role where your impact will be visible and meaningful
