The Director of Nursing Services (DONS) provides strategic and operational leadership for all clinical services within Hoy Healthcare Center and Enhanced Services. This role ensures regulatory compliance, clinical excellence, quality outcomes, and resident-centered care while fostering a culture aligned with Westminster-Canterbury’s Lighthouse Model and core values of Respect, Passion, and Professionalism.

Enhanced Services (Assisted Living)
Enhanced Services provides personalized support for residents who require additional assistance while maintaining as much independence as possible. What You’ll Do In This Role:

Clinical Leadership & Quality

  • Direct all nursing operations for Hoy Healthcare Center and Enhanced Services.
  • Ensure high-quality resident and rehabilitation care.
  • Monitor and improve clinical outcomes, including wounds, falls, infections, and weight management.
  • Oversee infection prevention, surveillance, and antibiotic stewardship programs.
  • Lead Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) initiatives and state survey preparedness efforts.

Team Leadership & Staffing

  • Manage staffing levels to ensure safe, effective resident care.
  • Supervise and mentor clinical leaders, including the Enhanced Services Clinical Coordinator.
  • Support recruitment, performance management, coaching, and disciplinary processes.
  • Serve as a clinical resource and role model for nursing staff.

Compliance & Operations

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and community regulations.
  • Oversee resident assessments, care planning, admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Maintain nursing policies, procedures, and clinical standards.
  • Participate in administrative planning, budgeting, and operational improvement projects.
  • Serve in the administrative on-call rotation.

Education & Collaboration

  • Develop and implement clinical education and competency programs.
  • Collaborate with physicians, rehabilitation teams, wound care specialists, and interdisciplinary partners.
  • Represent Westminster-Canterbury in professional and community activities.

The Experience You’ll Bring:

Required

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Minimum of 5 years nursing leadership experience
  • Experience in skilled nursing or post-acute care
  • Strong background in quality improvement, survey readiness, and regulatory compliance.
  • Knowledge of nursing practices and long-term care operations.
  • Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHRs) and standard business software applications.
  • Ability to effectively lead teams, manage competing priorities, and make sound clinical decisions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Masters of Nursing (MSN).
  • Experience leading interdisciplinary teams and clinical operational initiatives.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of gerontological nursing trends, best practices, and standards.
  • Prior experience working in a life plan community

Compensation Range: Based on relevant experience + yearly bonus potential of 8% of yearly salary
