About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated and seasoned Director of Nursing to oversee multiple critical care units: 2 PCUs, Oncology/Blood Cancer, and Renal Transplant, totaling 78 beds. Reporting directly to the VP of Nursing Operations, this hands-on leader ensures operational excellence in a high-volume environment where beds are consistently full.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 24/7 leadership and accountability for clinical, operational, and financial performance across all assigned units
Plan, organize, and evaluate nursing care delivery in compliance with the Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies
Collaborate with the VP of Nursing, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, patient-centered care
Lead staffing, productivity, quality improvement, and performance initiatives
Foster a positive culture of accountability, engagement, and professional nursing practice
Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, accreditation bodies, and evidence-based care practices

Qualifications
Experience: Minimum of 2 years recent PCU acute care leadership required (within the last year)
Education:
BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) from an accredited institution – required
MSN (Master's in Nursing) – preferred
Licensure & Certifications:
Active RN license in Texas (or Compact State with Texas as primary residence)
Current BLS and ACLS certifications
Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing nursing teams in a fast-paced, complex environment
Reporting & Team Structure
Reports To: VP of Nursing Operations
Oversees: Approximately 200 FTEs across all units
Unit Volume: Beds typically remain at full capacity daily
