Position Overview

A healthcare organization is seeking an experienced nursing leader to oversee Emergency Services operations across two Emergency Departments that function under a shared staffing model. This role provides 24-hour leadership accountability for departmental operations, quality outcomes, patient experience, employee engagement, financial performance, and regulatory compliance.

The Director will lead a team of approximately 55 60 FTEs while partnering closely with physicians and interdisciplinary leaders to ensure efficient patient throughput, high-quality care delivery, and a positive work environment. This position offers the opportunity to strengthen team culture, improve operational performance, and drive long-term departmental success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic, operational, financial, and clinical leadership for Emergency Services.
  • Oversee daily operations across two Emergency Departments operating under a shared staffing structure.
  • Develop and mentor leaders while supporting succession planning initiatives.
  • Build and maintain strong physician relationships and interdisciplinary partnerships.
  • Lead quality improvement, patient satisfaction, and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Monitor staffing plans, productivity metrics, and customer service performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate departmental policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Manage departmental budgets, capital planning, and resource allocation.
  • Identify opportunities for revenue enhancement and cost containment.
  • Support staff development through orientation, education, and ongoing training programs.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, communication, and professional growth.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.
  • Current RN license or license recognized by the applicable State Board of Nursing.
  • Minimum clinical nursing experience as required by organizational standards.
  • Previous nursing leadership or management experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams in a fast-paced acute care environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Nursing or a related field.
  • Emergency Department leadership experience strongly preferred.
  • Certification in a clinical specialty or nursing administration.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and operational improvement initiatives.
