Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate, experienced, and motivated Director of Nursing (DON) to lead and oversee clinical care within our assisted living community. The DON plays a vital leadership role in ensuring residents receive high-quality care while maintaining their dignity, independence, and overall well-being.

This position is responsible for coordinating resident health services, supervising care staff, ensuring compliance with state regulations, and fostering a positive team culture focused on exceptional resident care.


Key Responsibilities

Resident Care & Clinical Oversight

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized resident care plans

  • Monitor residents’ health status and coordinate physician communication, medication management, and follow-up care

  • Oversee infection control, wound care, incident reporting, and preventative care programs

  • Ensure all resident health records are accurate, complete, and HIPAA compliant

  • Conduct resident assessments and monitor changes in condition

Staff Management & Supervision

  • Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise nurses, CMAs, and caregivers

  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching or corrective action when necessary

  • Ensure staff maintain required certifications and continuing education

  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment

Regulatory Compliance & Policies

  • Ensure compliance with Oklahoma assisted living regulations and resident rights requirements

  • Lead preparation efforts for state surveys, inspections, and audits

  • Maintain and update nursing policies and procedures

  • Ensure accurate documentation of incidents, medication errors, and resident changes

Family & Resident Communication

  • Serve as a liaison between residents, families, physicians, pharmacies, hospice agencies, and healthcare providers

  • Address family concerns professionally and compassionately

  • Participate in admissions, care conferences, and discharge planning

Administrative Duties

  • Manage clinical staffing schedules and coverage

  • Monitor medical supply inventory and ordering

  • Collaborate with leadership regarding budgeting, staffing, and quality improvement initiatives

  • Participate in leadership meetings and ongoing community planning


Qualifications

  • Current and valid LPN or RN license in the State of Oklahoma

  • Minimum of 3 years nursing experience in assisted living, long-term care, or a related healthcare setting preferred

  • Previous supervisory or management experience preferred

  • Strong understanding of assisted living regulations and geriatric care

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills

  • Experience with EMR systems and Microsoft Office


Preferred Skills

  • CPR and First Aid Certification

  • Experience with dementia and memory care

  • Familiarity with acuity-based staffing and care planning

  • Ability to manage emergency situations calmly and effectively
