Job Title: Director of Nursing / Assistant Director of Nursing

Location: Brooklyn, NY 11206
Shift: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Overview

A behavioral health facility in Brooklyn, NY is seeking a Director of Nursing (DON) / Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to lead and oversee the nursing department. This role is ideal for a highly experienced nursing professional with a strong background in behavioral health and supervisory experience. The successful candidate will provide clinical leadership, support staff development, and ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Licensure & Certifications

  • Active New York State RN license (single state; compact licenses not accepted)

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

Required Clinical Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 7 years of nursing experience, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or leadership role

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in behavioral health nursing

  • Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance, patient safety, and quality improvement in a behavioral health setting

  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, mentor staff, and manage daily operations

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, direction, and oversight to nursing staff

  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, policies, and procedures

  • Monitor quality of care and implement improvement initiatives

  • Support professional development and performance management of staff

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes

  • Assist in staffing, scheduling, and operational decision-making

  • Serve as a resource for clinical guidance and problem-solving
