Title: Director of Med-Surg
Location: Panama City, Florida
Employment Type: Permanent
Shift: Days, Full-Time

Compensation

  • Salary Range:
    • Minimum: $105,000 annually
    • Mid-Level (10 Years Experience): $115,000 annually
    • Maximum (15+ Years Experience): $125,000 annually

Position Summary

The Director of Med-Surg is responsible for providing strategic leadership, operational oversight, and clinical direction for the Medical-Surgical department. This role supports organizational goals related to quality patient care, operational excellence, staff development, and financial performance.

The ideal candidate will bring strong acute care nursing leadership experience, excellent communication skills, and a collaborative management approach focused on patient-centered care and team development.


Key Responsibilities

Department Leadership & Operations

  • Provide leadership and oversight for daily Med-Surg department operations
  • Lead departmental performance improvement and resource utilization initiatives
  • Ensure operational efficiency and effective patient care delivery
  • Support seamless patient flow across the continuum of care
  • Develop short-term and long-term departmental goals and strategic plans

Clinical & Quality Oversight

  • Promote quality patient care and patient safety initiatives
  • Coordinate care conferences for high-risk or complex patient cases
  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies, equipment, and services
  • Support and participate in clinical research initiatives

Staff Management & Development

  • Interview, hire, onboard, and manage department personnel
  • Conduct employee performance evaluations
  • Oversee disciplinary actions and performance improvement processes when necessary
  • Develop educational programs for staff and patients
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment

Compliance & Organizational Support

  • Ensure compliance with Affirmative Action and EEO policies and regulations
  • Support departmental adherence to healthcare standards, policies, and regulations
  • Contribute to organizational leadership initiatives and strategic planning

Qualifications

Required Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of recent acute care RN leadership experience
  • Leadership experience must be within the last year

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree required

Licensure & Certifications

  • Active RN or APRN license required
  • BLS certification required within 30 days of hire
