We seek a candidate that is self-inspired to learn and demonstrates a high degree of customer service while positively contributing to our team.
Organizational Structure: Engineering is organized into Teams and Disciplines within the Innovative Solutions Division. The Director of Manufacturing & Industrial Engineering (Team 4) owns manufacturability, production readiness, and final engineering validation prior to release to Production. This role ensures designs are technically correct, buildable, safe, repeatable, and aligned with Nomad's manufacturing capabilities and throughput requirements.
This role:
Validates engineering output prior to Production release
Ensures manufacturability, safety, and repeatability across all disciplines
Protects engineering intent while enabling Production throughput
Does not invent, configure, or standardize designs
Measures of Success:
First-pass Design-for-Manufacture-and-Assembly (DFMA) acceptance rate
Reduction in production rework and clarifications
Manufacturing throughput and takt time improvements
Reduction in production deviations and workarounds
Clear and auditable manufacturing documentation
Responsibilities:
Manufacturing & Industrial Engineering Execution
Own DFMA review and approval prior to Production release.
Ensure designs are buildable, safe, repeatable, and clearly documented.
Reject incomplete, unclear, or unmanufacturable designs and return them for correction.
Production Readiness & Validation
Serve as the final engineering validation gate before designs are released to Production.
Ensure Production never needs to reinterpret engineering intent or create workarounds.
Validate tooling, fixtures, layouts, and workflows required for execution.
Industrial Engineering & Throughput Optimization
Optimize takt time, layouts, tooling efficiency, and labor utilization.
Establish and improve manufacturing cells and lines.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste and increase throughput.
Cross-Team Collaboration & Feedback
Partner with Team 1 to provide manufacturability feedback for standards improvement.
Collaborate with Team 2 and Team 3 to address manufacturability risks early.
Capture Production and field feedback and feed systemic issues into Standards & Modularity.
Resource Coordination & Leadership
Lead Manufacturing Engineering and Industrial Engineering resources assigned to Team 4.
Coordinate with Discipline Managers on staffing and capability needs.
Set clear expectations for technical rigor, validation discipline, and delivery.
