MidAtlantic Finance is looking to add an in-house attorney as the Director of Legal and Compliance with five to ten years of Commercial Litigation and regulatory compliance experience.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage a high-volume portfolio of commercial disputes and contract enforcement matters
- Lead pre-litigation strategy, negotiation, and settlement discussions with counterparties
- Drive end-to-end litigation strategy, including coordination with outside counsel when necessary
- Develop and execute recovery strategies to maximize collections and minimize loss severity
- Evaluate claims and defenses, and make go/no-go decisions on litigation vs. settlement
- Draft and refine demand letters, pleadings, and litigation strategy memos
- Oversee and control outside legal spend, including budgeting and performance management of external firms.
- Oversee all Regulatory Compliance operations including staff supervision, audit activities,
- Partner with internal stakeholders to identify patterns of risk and repeat counterparty behavior
Additional Skills and Experience
- Experience with secured transactions, collateral recovery, or asset-backed lending
- Background in collections litigation or enforcement actions
- Familiarity with multi-jurisdictional litigation and judgment enforcement
- Experience required in topical issues of relevant regulatory compliance (e.g. FCRA, FDCPA, privacy, etc.)
