Director of LandscapingEngineering Department — Reports to Assistant Director of Engineering Luxury Resort | Caribbean

Role Overview Leads the Landscaping and Vehicles departments at an extensive, multi-acre luxury resort (30+ acres), owning strategy, budget, and team leadership for a diverse, medium-sized crew including irrigation technicians and grounds mechanics. Reports to the Assistant Director of Engineering and works closely with ownership, who is highly engaged in landscaping standards.

Key Deliverables

  • Strategic ownership — develop, implement, and execute the resort's landscaping strategy across an extensive property footprint
  • P&L management — own the Landscaping Department's Profit & Loss statement and budget performance
  • Team leadership — hire, train, schedule, discipline, and manage performance for a team of approximately 16, including an Assistant Landscaping Manager and Supervisors
  • Preventive maintenance — ensure effective preventive maintenance schedules for grounds equipment and irrigation systems
  • Irrigation & plant health — oversee irrigation systems and pest control programs to maintain plant and turf health standards
  • Cross-departmental coordination — maintain strong working relationships between Landscaping and other resort departments

Required Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years in a landscaping leadership role within a luxury hotel/resort environment; candidates from private estate management or consulting-only backgrounds will not be considered a fit
  • Certification in horticulture required
  • Seasoned Manager (acting Director level) or above
  • Strong knowledge of irrigation systems, ideally including experience in dry/arid climates
  • Experience with pest control programs
  • Proven ability to lead a diverse, medium-sized team (irrigation technicians, mechanics, groundskeepers)
  • Caribbean experience preferred; open to candidates from other remote, irrigation-dependent destinations
  • Genuine passion for horticulture and high aesthetic standards

Compensation

  • Base Salary: $58,000 / year (gross)
  • Housing Allowance: $21,600 / year
  • Health Insurance: 100% employer-paid
  • Vacation: 15 days + 14 management holidays
  • Annual Home Leave: up to $1,500 per person (employee + family)
  • Retirement: 4% employer contribution after 1 year of service
  • Eligible for service charge
  • Local income tax: approx. 8%
