Director of Information Technology Services

Sierra ITS has been retained by a well-respected professional association to identify a Director of Information Technology Solutions to help lead the next chapter of the organization's technology evolution. This isn't a "keep the lights on" IT leadership role. They have already invested heavily in stabilizing and modernizing their infrastructure, now they're looking for someone who can help turn technology into a true strategic advantage for the organization.

Your mission will be to connect people, process, data, and technology in a way that makes the organization smarter, more efficient, and better equipped to serve its memberships. You'll help define the vision, create a practical roadmap, and guide the organization toward a more modern, data-driven future. You'll report directly to the Chief Administrative Officer and partner with leaders who genuinely want change and innovation. You'll lead a small IT team (senior manager of infrastructure and a data manager), an MSP, and technology partners / vendors to help continue building out the internal IT function with modern capabilities around data, AI, and enterprise applications.

REQUIRED

  • An experienced and polished pro who is both strategic and approachable; a modern IT leader who can build trust just as easily as they can build a roadmap
  • Technology leadership with a strong relationship-first mindset
  • Data strategy, governance, and enterprise applications aptitude
  • Technical understanding of core data and analytics technologies (data integration / ETL, master data management, data lifecycle governance, data quality frameworks, data ownership/stewardship, metadata management, data cataloging, data visualization, MS reporting stack)
  • IT transformation and organizational modernization experience
  • Refined project and program leadership skills
  • High EQ, curiosity, diplomacy, and a strong service mentality
  • Competency in O365 and all its tools
  • Experience in associations, membership organizations, or mission-driven environments is a plus but only if you've helped drive meaningful change.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

Success in this role will come from building alignment, simplifying complexity, and helping teams achieve their goals. The right person will be comfortable leading executive conversations, mentoring staff, managing external partners, and translating technical ideas into real business value.

  • Data becomes easier to access, connect, and use
  • Enterprise applications become uniform, governed, and maximized
  • Internal teams feel fully supported and operate with greater efficiency
  • Vendors and partners are aligned and accountable
  • Technology becomes a recognized strength of the organization
  • IT evolves into a key driver of strategy, innovation, and member experience
The role is hybrid with 2 days per week (Wed and Thu) in their downtown Chicago office and 3 days per week remote. Locals (current Chicago area residents) candidates only, no third parties.
