Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Interconnection & Grid Strategy professional to manage all grid-related aspects of our renewable energy development portfolio.

This role will serve as the primary liaison with ISO/RTOs and utilities, while working closely and responsively with internal functional teams such as development, engineering, and GIS to define interconnection-driven siting strategies and maximize project success rates in increasingly constrained grid environments.

The ideal candidate brings hands-on interconnection experience within ISO/RTO such as ERCOT, a strong understanding of evolving grid policies and study methodologies, and the ability to represent a developer’s commercial and strategic interests across the full project lifecycle—from early-stage siting through construction and operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Spearhead the Transmission & Interconnection strategy, setting short & long-term goals for grid integration across various US power markets.

  • Queue Management: Manage the company’s interconnection portfolio, ensuring timely submission of study requests and evaluating the feasibility/costs of System Impact Studies (SIS) and Facilities Studies.

  • Regulatory & Policy Advocacy: Monitor and advise executive leadership on market rule changes, FERC filings, and ISO/RTO policy shifts (e.g., PJM, MISO, ERCOT, CAISO) that impact transmission costs or timelines.

  • Project Development Support: Partner with the project development team to identify optimal points of interconnection (POI) and evaluate congestion, curtailment risks, and basis risk.

  • Liaison & Negotiation: Represent the company in stakeholder meetings and negotiate Interconnection Agreements (IA) with Transmission Owners (TOs) and Balancing Authorities.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: 10+ years of direct experience in US transmission and interconnection.

  • Developer Background: Proven track record working specifically for a renewable energy developer, managing utility-scale solar, wind, or storage assets.

  • Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of ISO/RTO tariffs, business practice manuals, and the FERC Open Access Transmission Tariff (OATT).

  • Market Insight: Ability to translate complex regulatory/policy changes into actionable business strategies.

  • Leadership/Team Spirit: Experience managing technical teams and external consultants. Responsiveness and responsibilities on development team’s inquiries

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with power flow modeling software (e.g., PSS/E, PROMOD, or TARA).

  • Established relationships with ISO/RTO planning staff.
