Job Purpose Summary:

The Director of Integrated Planning & Inventory Operations facilitates work between Purchasing and Planning/Production Control to maximize efficient demand planning, inventory management, returns processing, and shipping level oversight under a single point of accountability. This individual will own end-to-end inventory health across both manufactured and vendor inventory with a primary mandate of eliminating out-of-stock conditions and building the systems and team capabilities to sustain optimal inventory availability.

Key result to be achieved:

  • Inventory Planning and Forecasting:
  • Lead integrated demand and supply planning across manufactured and vendor product lines, accounting for differing lead times, MOQs, and production constraints.
  • Develop and maintain short- and long-range forecasting models that drive purchasing, production scheduling, and inventory positioning decisions.
  • Own in-stock rate as a primary KPI; establish targets, track performance, and drive corrective action.
  • Returns Management:
  • Take ownership of the returns function, including processing workflows, disposition decisions (restock, liquidate, destroy), and root cause analysis.
  • Use returns data to inform demand planning adjustments and vendor performance management.
  • Partner with Quality and Regulatory on returned product handling and supplement compliance requirements.
  • Shipping and Fulfillment Levels:
  • Oversee shipping level strategy in coordination with logistics and fulfillment partners to ensure inventory is positioned to meet demand signals.
  • Monitor and respond to fill rate, on-time shipping, and order cycle time metrics.
  • Identify and resolve bottlenecks that contribute to out-of-stock outcomes at point of sale or fulfillment.
  • Cross-Functional Integration:
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Sales, Procurement, Operations, and Finance on matters of inventory availability and supply constraints.
  • Lead a regular S&OP (Sales & Operations Planning) cadence or equivalent cross-functional planning forum.
  • Partner with vendor brand managers on forecast inputs and vendor replenishment performance.
  • All other tasks as assigned by Threshold management.

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in supply chain, demand planning, or inventory management; consumer goods, nutraceuticals, or manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing both owned/manufactured and third-party/vendor product lines.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in ERP systems and planning tools (NetSuite, SAP, or equivalent).
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives without direct authority over all stakeholders.
  • People management experience required; experience building or restructuring a team preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or supply chain certification (APICS/CSCP) a plus.
