Job Description Summary:
Under administrative supervision, this position serves as the Building Official for the County. Responsibilities include administering, enforcing, and interpreting building codes, licensing ordinances, and related regulations to ensure that all construction within the county is safe, compliant, and meets approved standards. The Building Official manages plan reviews, inspection activities, permitting procedures, and supervises building department staff. Additionally, the role oversees a comprehensive program for issuing, maintaining, and controlling licenses and permits according to relevant laws, ordinances, and regulations.
The position requires strong analytical skills and independent judgment. The employee is tasked with developing and implementing departmental policies and ensuring the efficient operation of all department functions and operations. This job involves extensive, varied, and critical contacts with other State, County and Municipal government agencies, legislative bodies, and the general public at all levels.
Job Description:
Salary Range: $$100,113.00-$189,114.00
BUDGETED SALARY: $130,000.00-$150,000.00/ANNUALLY
Essential Duties:

Years of Experience:
10 years of related experience
Progressively responsible experience in administration of a code enforcement department, building construction practices, construction management.
Years of Supervisory Experience:
5 years of managerial experience
Education:
Bachelor's Degree - Engineering General OR Bachelor's Degree - Business Administration OR Bachelor's Degree - Construction Management OR Bachelor's Degree - Construction Services
Relevant experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year for year basis.
Certifications, Licensures, and Examinations:
Certified ICC Residential Building Inspector (Preferred); ICC Residential Plans Reviewer (Preferred); ICC IBC Plans Reviewer (Preferred); ICC IBC Inspector (Preferred); ICC Residential Energy Inspector (Preferred); ICC Commercial Energy Inspector (Preferred)
Hiring preference will be provided to candidates possessing nationally accredited code enforcement certifications. Ideally candidates should be an accredited Certified Building Official and/or Master Code Official.
