The Director of Information Technology (IT) will be responsible for building, scaling, and maintaining the core technology environment that supports Brainchild Bio’s scientific, operational, and corporate functions. As the company continues to grow, this role ensures that IT systems are reliable, secure, and capable of supporting both research and business operations in a dynamic biotech setting.

This is a hands-on leadership role focused on infrastructure, systems reliability, and service delivery. The Director of IT will oversee enterprise IT operations, support laboratory and technical environments, and manage external technology partners. While the role does not own enterprise data strategy, it requires sufficient technical depth to partner effectively with internal subject-matter experts and third-party vendors supporting integrations and data exchanges.

The ideal candidate is comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving organization and brings a practical, solutions-oriented mindset. They balance scalability, security, and usability, ensuring that technology enables the work of scientists, clinicians, and business teams rather than slowing it down.
This role works closely with cross-functional leaders across CMC, Quality & Regulatory, Research, and all other Corporate Functions to anticipate future needs, address day-to-day challenges, and build a stable technology foundation that can grow with the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  •
IT Infrastructure & Operations
  • Build and scale Brainchild Bio’s IT infrastructure, including networks, cloud services, endpoints, identity and access management, and collaboration tools.
  • Establish stable, secure, and scalable IT operations to support a growing organization.
  • Oversee day-to-day IT support, system availability, and issue resolution across corporate and laboratory environments.

Laboratory & Technology Support
  • Ensure that laboratory instruments, research technologies, and associated software are properly configured, connected, and functioning reliably.
  • Partner with research and operations teams to support onboarding of new instruments, technology upgrades, and lab expansions.
  • Coordinate with vendors to resolve hardware, software, or connectivity issues impacting lab or research work.

Systems Integration & Vendor Collaboration
  • Support secure and reliable system integrations and data transfers in collaboration with internal SMEs and external vendors.
  • Act as a technical partner to third parties responsible for specialized platforms, ensuring infrastructure and access needs are met.
  • Troubleshoot and coordinate resolution of integration or connectivity challenges.

Security & Risk Management
  • Implement and maintain baseline cybersecurity controls to protect company systems, intellectual property, and sensitive data.
  • Ensure appropriate access controls, backups, and recovery processes are in place.
  • Support compliance and risk management efforts as they relate to IT infrastructure.

Vendor & Service Management
  • Manage relationships with Managed Service Providers (MSPs) and technology vendors.
  • Monitor vendor performance and service levels to ensure timely and effective support.
  • Serve as the escalation point for IT-related vendor issues.

Scalability & Continuous Improvement
  • Anticipate future IT needs tied to company growth and evolving operations.
  • Standardize tools, processes, and documentation to improve reliability and user experience.
  • Continuously evaluate opportunities to improve efficiency, security, and scalability.

Qualifications:

  • 8–12+ years of progressive IT experience, including leadership responsibility in biotechnology, life sciences, or similarly regulated technical environments.
  • Demonstrated experience building and scaling IT capabilities to support a growing organization, including research, laboratory, and corporate operations.
  • Broad expertise in enterprise IT systems and infrastructure, including cloud platforms, networking, end-user computing, identity management, and collaboration tools.
  • Experience supporting scientific or laboratory environments, including technology platforms, specialized equipment, and vendor-supported systems used in research or development settings.
  • Ability to support system integrations and secure data exchanges, working in partnership with internal subject-matter experts and external vendors.
  • Working knowledge of security, privacy, and compliance expectations common to biotech and life sciences organizations, with the ability to apply appropriate controls as the company scales.
  • Experience managing external IT vendors and managed service providers, ensuring reliable service delivery and alignment with business needs.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to support scientists, operators, and business teams with varying levels of technical expertise.
  • Hands-on, ownership-oriented leadership style, with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, resource-constrained, and mission-driven environment.
$225,000 - $250,000 a year
