Job Summary

The Director of Information Technology will implement and execute West Valley Construction Company's technology strategy and operations, embodying the company's core values and mission to support rapid growth and execution. This role focuses on enhancing productivity, security, efficiency, and profitability through the strategic application of the Microsoft ecosystem, advanced cybersecurity practices, and management of enterprise-level software projects. This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer and is responsible for oversight of the IT department and third-party technology vendors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Architect and oversee the company's technology roadmap in alignment with strategic business goals and operational requirements.
  • Drive infrastructure management efforts, ensuring the robustness, scalability, and security of the network, servers, data centers, and cloud services.
  • Champion cybersecurity initiatives to safeguard the company's data and systems, upholding trust and protecting all stakeholders.
  • Develop and oversee a comprehensive cybersecurity program, including incident response. planning, vulnerability management, employee awareness training, and third-party risk evaluation.
  • Administer the IT budget with an eye for cost-effective resource allocation and strategic investment to support infrastructure and growth.
  • Develop and manage annual IT operating and capital budgets, including long-range technology investment planning, with accountability for cost control, ROI, and alignment with company financial objectives.
  • Engage with vendors to secure necessary technology services and negotiate contracts that leverage value for the company.
  • Devise and refine disaster recovery and business continuity strategies to minimize risk and ensure operational resilience.
  • Implement performance monitoring solutions for early detection and resolution of infrastructure issues.
  • Establish and maintain IT general controls (ITGCs), support internal and external audits, and ensure compliance with applicable data security, privacy, and regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies for their potential impact and applicability to enhance organizational performance and competitive edge.
  • Communicate effectively with the executive leadership and all company stakeholders regarding technology direction, issues, and milestones.
  • Understand and stay current with the core business operations, anticipating the impact of market and internal changes on the technology landscape.
  • Lead significant enterprise software system deployments, ensuring they align with business processes and deliver on performance metrics.
  • Lead implementation, optimization, and integration of enterprise systems (including ERP, financial systems, and construction management platforms), ensuring alignment with business processes and data integrity.
  • Foster inter-departmental collaboration to develop and execute cohesive technology strategies tailored to departmental and organizational needs.
  • Conduct IT security audits and oversee comprehensive security measures across all technology platforms and operations.
  • Supervise and mentor the IT department, promoting a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of IT projects from conception through to deployment, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.
  • Partner with department heads to streamline and enhance technology integration, supporting organizational objectives and workflow optimization.

Qualifications

  • Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience. 10+ years progressive IT leadership. Must possess the expertise to develop and maintain scalable enterprise level solutions tailored to the needs of a diverse user base with varying technical skills, ensuring alignment with the business' core requirements and stakeholder expectations. Demonstrated experience in IT infrastructure design and management across various geographic locations.
  • Certificates/Licenses: relevant certifications (such as Microsoft, CompTIA, ITIL) are highly regarded. Valid driver's license in good standings (must be 18 years of age or older to operate a company vehicle).
  • Computer Skills: expert-level knowledge of the Windows Server ecosystem, Microsoft products, cybersecurity, and enterprise software project management.
  • Interpersonal Skills: adept at vendor and stakeholder management, with strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.
  • Leadership: extensive experience in IT leadership, with a proven track record of managing complex IT operations and large-scale projects in a dynamic construction environment. Excellent communication and leadership abilities, with experience in aligning IT objectives with business goals and leading diverse teams.
  • Mathematical Skills: strong financial acumen in managing IT budgets, forecasts, and investment plans.
  • Organization and Planning: comprehensive knowledge of disaster recovery planning and business continuity practices.
  • Problem Solving: a strategic thinker with exceptional analytical and decision-making skills, capable of translating complex IT concepts into actionable business strategies. A commitment to staying ahead of technology trends and integrating innovative solutions where they add value to business operations.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.

Salary

$170,400/year - $272,600/year
