The Opportunity
We are seeking a Director of Human Resources who is deeply aligned with our mission and energized by the opportunity to shape a strong, inclusive, and values‑driven workplace. Experience in a community health center, FQHC, nonprofit, or healthcare setting would be a plus!
The Director of Human Resources serves as Affinity's chief human capital strategist and a key member of the senior leadership team. This role is responsible for building, strengthening, and sustaining a robust, compliant, and mission‑aligned HR function that supports both current operations and future growth.
The Director of Human Resources partners closely with leaders across the organization to ensure Affinity has the talent, culture, structure, and systems needed to deliver exceptional, patient‑centered care. This leader plays a critical role in organizational effectiveness, workforce sustainability, and culture building, ensuring we remain a place where people feel valued, supported, and empowered to do meaningful work.
Key Responsibilities:
Senior Leadership & Strategy
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve HR strategies, systems, and policies to build a strong, consistent, and scalable human resources program.
- Serve as a core member of the senior leadership team, contributing to strategic planning and decision-making.
- Collaborate with leaders on all human capital, organizational, and culture-related matters.
- Partner with leadership team members to drive change management and organizational transformation initiatives.
Talent Management
- Design and implement consistent, organization‑wide talent management practices, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and employee development.
- Manage end-to-end talent acquisition strategies to attract mission-driven, high-quality clinical and administrative staff.
- Design and implement performance management systems that align individual contributions with organizational goals.
- Support teams in coaching, employee relations, and team effectiveness.
Organizational Development and Workforce Strategy
- Lead workforce planning to ensure staffing models meet current and future patient care needs.
- Design and implement leadership development, succession planning, and talent pipeline strategies.
- Align organizational structure and roles to support efficiency, scalability, and care delivery.
HR Operations and Compliance
- Provide oversight of HR operations, ensuring policies, systems, and processes are compliant, efficient, and scalable.
- Evaluate existing HR processes and implement improvements to strengthen infrastructure, consistency, documentation, and compliance across the organization.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable employment laws, healthcare regulations, and accreditation requirements.
- Establish and monitor key HR metrics and dashboards to inform decision-making.
Compensation and Benefits
- Lead the design of competitive compensation and benefits strategies that are aligned with the organization's mission to support our staff as our greatest asset.
- Advise executive leadership on compensation philosophy and workforce cost management
- Ensure transparency and compliance in all pay practices.
Organizational Culture and Employee Engagement
- Design and oversee structured staff appreciation initiatives, recognition programs, and engagement activities that strengthen morale, retention, and workforce well‑being.
- Champion a mission-driven and inclusive culture that is consistent with Affinity's mission, vision, and values.
- Lead staff‑comprised, interdepartmental teams focused on promoting organizational culture and expressing appreciation for employees across the organization.
- Oversee employee engagement efforts, including surveys, action planning, and data‑informed retention strategies.
- Promote workforce well‑being, resilience, and sustainable practices that support a healthy and supportive work environment.
Qualifications:
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive HR leadership experience, including experience reporting to executive leadership or serving in a senior‑level role.
- Current HR certification (HRCI or SHRM), such as SPHR or SHRM‑SCP.
- Demonstrated experience serving as a strategic business partner.
- Strong knowledge of employment law, HR operations, benefits administration, and organizational development.
- Proven ability to lead through growth, change, and organizational scaling.
Preferred
- Master's degree (MBA, MHA, or related field).
- Experience in a community health center, FQHC, nonprofit, or healthcare environment.
- Senior‑level or executive HR leadership experience.
