The Role
The Director of Human Resources leads Team Kline’s full people function during a period of significant and intentional growth. This is a strategic and operational leadership role that partners directly with the COO and senior leadership to create a credible and trusted people operations team while also building the necessary infrastructure, culture, and team capability the organization needs to scale. It requires both the ability to see out into the future and plan forward while also having the discipline to execute day-to-day HR operations across a complex, field-heavy, multi-state workforce.

  • Talent acquisition and employer brand
  • Employee relations and performance management

  • Multi-state compliance and risk management
  • Manager and leadership development; Team Kline University
  • Safety program oversight and workers’ compensation
  • HR systems, operations, and process improvement

Skills and Competencies
We are looking for demonstrated strength across the following:

  • Strategic Thinking — ability to translate long-horizon business goals into structured people plans, balancing vision with near-term execution
  • Team Leadership — build, develop, and hold accountable a team of HR professionals; modeling high standards and delegating effectively
  • Influence and Partnership — engage with senior leaders and operational managers to make aligned people decisions
  • Change Leadership — lead organizational change with structure and stakeholder engagement, managing resistance and building adoption
  • Employment Law Compliance — ability to apply multi-state employment law requirements across HR and the business
  • Employee Relations — navigate complex workplace situations with sound judgment, fairness, and consistency
  • Communication — must be able to communicate clearly and credibly in written and verbal formats, adapting style for the audience

Experience and Credentials

  • 8+ years of progressive HR experience across multiple functions; must demonstrate expertise in multiple HR competency areas
  • 5+ years of experience in leading others
  • Multi-state, multi-location environment required; trades, construction, or field workforce strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required
  • SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or equivalent certification strongly preferred
