Our client is a rapidly growing staffing organization supporting a distributed, multi-state workforce. They are known for operational excellence and are investing heavily in building a best-in-class HR infrastructure powered by automation, compliance, and technology.

We’re hiring for a Director of HR Operations to lead and scale payroll compliance, HR systems, and regulatory programs across all 50 states.

What you will do:
  • Own and scale enterprise-wide multi-state payroll compliance and HR operations.
  • Design and implement automated, audit-ready compliance workflows (UKG, Bullhorn).
  • Build SOPs and scalable processes for onboarding, payroll, and compliance programs.
  • Lead and develop an HR operations team (payroll, pre-employment, HR admin).
  • Partner with Legal and Executive Leadership on compliance strategy and risk mitigation.
  • Oversee HR investigations, claims processes, and employee relations protocols.
  • Drive transition to UKG and optimize HR tech stack for automation and scalability.
  • Ensure compliance across federal, state, and local employment laws.

What we’re looking for:
  • 8–10+ years of HR experience with deep focus on payroll and compliance.
  • Strong experience in multi-state workforce environments (staffing preferred).
  • Background in industries like travel nursing or distributed contractor workforce highly preferred.
  • Proven success building scalable HR processes and compliance programs.
  • Experience with HRIS/ATS systems (UKG, Bullhorn strongly preferred).
  • Strong understanding of payroll regulations, wage & hour laws, and benefits compliance.
  • Experience leading HR teams and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field.
