Nursing Position Overview
The Director of Health Services (DHS) RN provides strategic and operational leadership for all nursing services within the community. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring high-quality, resident-centered care while maintaining regulatory compliance and clinical excellence. The DHS oversees 24/7 nursing operations and leads a team of approximately 25 staff members, including an Assistant DHS, an RN, and Resident Assistants.

Key Responsibilities
Resident-Centered Care
- Lead the development and implementation of individualized care plans that support residents’ physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being
- Ensure integration of Honoring Choices (POLST) and adherence to the Resident Bill of Rights
- Promote resident and family engagement in care planning and ensure proper documentation
Clinical & Regulatory Compliance
- Plan, direct, and implement a comprehensive health services program
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations (MN Board of Nursing, Home Care Licensure, HIPAA, OSHA, CLIA, Medicaid)
- Collaborate with Ebenezer leadership to develop policies aligned with best practices
- Monitor clinical outcomes, analyze trends, and implement improvements
Leadership & Team Development
- Provide leadership and oversight to the nursing department
- Foster a strong, team-oriented culture where staff collaborate to solve challenges and celebrate successes
- Support professional development and hold leaders accountable to performance expectations
- Ensure appropriate staffing models and efficient use of resources
- Oversee onboarding, training, and ongoing staff development programs
Operations & Financial Management
- Partner in budget development and monitor financial performance
- Prepare and analyze reports related to staffing, quality, and outcomes
- Ensure efficient and compliant medication administration and care delivery
Care Coordination
- Ensure timely completion of assessments and care plan updates
- Coordinate communication across departments (dietary, billing, etc.)
- Collaborate with physicians, families, and community resources to support continuity of care
- Ensure necessary resources (equipment, medications, supplies) are available
Quality & Engagement
- Champion a culture of service excellence through coaching and role modeling
- Monitor employee engagement and drive initiatives to enhance satisfaction and retention
- Collaborate with leadership on customer feedback systems and service improvements
Community & Growth
- Partner with the marketing team to support occupancy and outreach efforts
- Participate in community engagement, referral development, and family consultations
Required Qualifications
- Vocational School or Training or Associate Degree
- 1 year
- Registered Nurse with the MN Board of Nursing
- Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc, Red Cross or MTN) Upon Hire
