Job Title Director of Graduate Advising Position Purpose
The Director of Graduate Advising provides strategic oversight and leadership for academic advising and student support services within the graduate programs. This role is responsible for managing graduate advising services and ensuring effective service delivery that supports student success and institutional goals. The position works collaboratively with academic and administrative leadership to align advising practices with broader academic policies and initiatives, while also leveraging technology and data to enhance operational efficiency and student engagement. Additionally, the Director plays a key role in retention and re-enrollment efforts and contributes to the ongoing development and implementation of strategies that promote academic achievement and community connection among graduate students.
Essential Duties Summary
- Coordinates and delivers academic advising services for all domestic and international graduate students;
- Supports and ensures effective communication, coordination, and operational support of executive student weekend residencies;
- Coordinates the academic standing process with the Registrar's Office by disseminating notices to students and managing appeals procedures based on the required schedule;
- Provides accurate information regarding courses of instruction, resources and college policies and procedures for internal and external constituencies in a timely manner;
- Organizes recruitment efforts to re-enroll withdrawn graduate students, keeping the term starts at the forefront of the efforts;
- Manages the EAB Navigate platform for effective graduate student operations;
- Reviews data with program directors to ensure licensure and accreditation compliance;
- Collaborates with the Vice President of Academic Operations, Academic Deans, and Admissions to generate, maintain, and communicate schedules and registrations for graduate students.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree required
- 3-5 years supervisory experience
Preferred Qualifications
- 5-7 years experience working in college advising, graduate student advising preferred;
- Superior verbal and written communication skills
- Superior interpersonal skills; ability to develop collaborative relationships with campus and off-campus constituencies
- Public speaking skills, and the ability to motivate and inspire audiences
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong program management skills
