Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Director of General Aviation Maintenance / A&P Mechanic / IA to lead and oversee our general aviation maintenance operations. This position is responsible for managing the daily workflow of customer-owned general aviation aircraft, ensuring maintenance is completed safely and in compliance with FAA requirements, supporting customer relationships, and helping grow the general aviation maintenance business.

This is a hands-on leadership role that requires both technical expertise and strong operational oversight. The ideal candidate will have significant general aviation maintenance experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to serve as a trusted point of contact for aircraft owners and operators. This individual will be responsible for ensuring aircraft downtime is minimized, documentation is accurate, customer expectations are managed professionally, and all maintenance activity is completed to the highest standard.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct and oversee general aviation maintenance operations, workflow, scheduling, and shop priorities.
• Perform and/or oversee scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on general aviation aircraft.
• Manage customer aircraft status, maintenance timelines, priorities, and communication.
• Serve as a primary customer-facing maintenance contact, providing clear updates and professional service to aircraft owners and operators.
• Help retain existing customers while supporting efforts to attract new general aviation maintenance customers.
• Ensure all maintenance work complies with FAA regulations, company procedures, aircraft manufacturer requirements, and applicable safety standards.
• Accurately complete and oversee maintenance records, logbook entries, work orders, and required documentation.
• Coordinate parts, tooling, scheduling, staffing needs, and shop resources to minimize aircraft downtime.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and oversight to mechanics, apprentices, and support personnel involved in general aviation maintenance.
• Monitor quality of work, regulatory compliance, customer satisfaction, and overall department performance.
• Communicate effectively with company leadership regarding maintenance status, customer needs, department priorities, and operational concerns.
  • Support on-call airline maintenance call outs at Huntsville International Airport as required.
• Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and professional maintenance environment.

Qualifications

• • Minimum of 3+ years of general aviation maintenance experience preferred.
• Prior maintenance leadership, management, or department oversight experience strongly preferred.
  • Must hold a current FAA Airframe & Powerplant Certificate.
  • Current Inspection Authorization (IA) preferred.
  • If not currently IA certified, must have the ability to obtain IA within 90 days of employment.
  • Must own and maintain personal tools required to perform the job.
• Strong troubleshooting, inspection, maintenance, and regulatory compliance skills.
• Excellent customer service, communication, and relationship-management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple customer aircraft, competing priorities, and changing maintenance needs.
• Ability to lead others while remaining hands-on in daily maintenance operations.
  • Must be willing and able to support on-call airline maintenance call outs.
  • Must pass required background check and drug screening.
  • Must be eligible for enrollment in an FAA-mandated drug and alcohol testing program.

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary range: $80,000–$90,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications
• Estimated total compensation and benefits package value: approximately $129,782–$142,782 annually
