    Description

    Help shape the dining experience at Belmont Village Rancho Santa Fe, our newest purpose-built luxury senior living community, thoughtfully designed to deliver exceptional hospitality, innovative programming and restaurant-quality dining within the beautiful gated community of Lakes of Rancho Santa Fe.

    As the Food & Beverage Director, you'll build and lead a premier dining program from the ground up, bringing the standards of a luxury hotel, private club or fine dining operation to an environment with predictable leadership schedules, long-term resident relationships and a culture that values both operational excellence and quality of life.

    Reporting to the Senior Executive Director, you'll provide strategic leadership for all dining operations, including culinary, restaurant and catering services. As a member of the community's senior leadership team, you'll oversee financial performance, workforce planning, regulatory compliance, quality assurance and leadership development while creating an exceptional dining experience for residents, families and guests.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Operational Leadership

    • Direct the overall operations of the Dining Services Department to ensure efficient, high-quality service delivery.

    • Develop and implement departmental goals, objectives, operating plans and performance standards.

    • Monitor departmental performance and identify opportunities to improve service quality, efficiency and resident satisfaction.

    • Ensure dining operations consistently reflect Belmont Village hospitality standards.

    • Collaborate with community leadership to support organizational initiatives and strategic priorities.

    • Consults with Regional Leadership ensuring the Food Service program is meeting corporate objectives and implements corrective measures as needed.

    • Collaborates with vendors to improve deficiencies or resolve issues impacting the overall food service operation

    Financial Management

    • Participate in the development of the department's annual operating budget

    • Administer and monitor the department's operating budget identifying and addressing variances to weekly and monthly budget costs related to labor utilization, food costs and operating expenses

    • Implement strategies that improve operational efficiency while maintaining quality and service standards.

    • Ensure responsible stewardship of departmental resources.

    Resident, Family and Guest Relations

    • Promote a culture of exceptional hospitality and customer service.

    • Build positive relationships with residents, families and guests.

    • Address and resolve complex food service related

    resident or guest concerns in a timely and professional manner.

    • Collaborate with other departments to enhance the overall resident experience.

    Catering and Special Events

    • Provide strategic oversight of catering services and special event operations.

    • Partner with the administrative team to coordinate community events, celebrations and special functions.

    • Ensure catering operations support resident satisfaction while maintaining operational efficiency.

    Regulatory Compliance and Quality Assurance

    • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local regulations governing food service operations including health codes and OSHA.

    • Maintain compliance with Belmont Village policies, procedures and quality standards.

    • Oversee food safety, sanitation, infection prevention and workplace safety programs.

    • Prepare the department for regulatory surveys and inspections.

    • Implement continuous quality improvement initiatives based on operational results and resident feedback.

    Leadership and Talent Management

    • Applies company policies in a fair and consistent manner

    • Provide leadership, coaching and direction to Executive Chef and Dining Room Manager

    • Develop workforce plans aligned with operational needs and organizational objectives.

    • Partner with Human Resources on recruitment, hiring, succession planning and employee retention strategies.

    • Conduct performance evaluations and establish individual development plans for direct reports.

    • Manage employee relations issues including coaching, corrective action, disciplinary processes and conflict resolution.

    • Develop future leaders through mentoring, training and leadership development initiatives.

    • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, inclusion and continuous improvement.

    Communication and Collaboration

    • Participate as an active member of the community leadership team.

    • Communicate departmental goals, operational priorities and organizational initiatives.

    • Collaborate with Clinical Services, Resident Services, Maintenance, Life Enrichment, Business Office and other departments to ensure coordinated resident care and hospitality services.

    • Prepare reports, presentations and operational updates as requested.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • High school diploma or equivalent required.

    • Minimum three (3) years of progressive leadership experience in food and beverage, hospitality or large-scale fine dining operations.

    • Experience managing departmental budgets, financial performance, workforce planning and talent development.

    • Comprehensive knowledge of food and beverage operations.

    • Current ServSafe Certification

    • Strong verbal and written English communication skills.

    • Ability to build collaborative relationships and effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

    • Proficient with tablets, smartphones, laptops and hospitality software, with the ability to quickly learn new technology, including Point of Sale (POS) systems.

    • Consistent and reliable attendance is essential for all Belmont Village employees to ensure the successful operation of the community

    • Must successfully complete based on state and company requirements:

    • TB skin test or chest x-ray

    • State fingerprint and FBI background check

    • Health screening for this position

    • Basic First Aid training

    • Drug test

    PREFERENCES

    • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Culinary Management, or a related field preferred

    • Experience in luxury hospitality dining, multi-venue dining management, senior living food service or comparable service-focused environments

    • Five (5) or more years of progressive leadership and management experience in fine dining or luxury hospitality venue
