DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: Graduation from a recognized college or university with a major in accounting and three to five years of increasingly responsible fiscal management experience involving accounting, financial analysis, budget preparation and control, preferably in a public school setting.
Knowledge of: Generally accepted accounting principles; cost accounting applicable to all phases of District operations; Governmental accounting procedures and California School Accounting Manual, operation of a personal computer and computer terminal; principals and practices of supervision and training; budget preparation and control.
Ability to: Direct the accounting program of the District; prepare clear and concise financial reports; directs and prepares District Budget, accounting and fiscal procedures and policies; instruct, train, and supervise personnel in accounting methods and procedures; write and initiate systems applicable to a school district s financial operations; supervise general cost accounting system; evaluate new techniques and methods in the accounting field for their possible application to District operations; understand and carry out general oral and written directions.
SELECTION PROCESS The qualifications of each applicant will be evaluated in a multi-step process using specific criteria. The adopted criteria will be utilized during the application screening, interviewing, and final decision-making process. After the application screening process is completed, the Assistant Superintendent of Business Services will determine those candidates to be interviewed. Interviews will be conducted in August and finalists may be invited to return for an additional interview with the Assistant Superintendent and Superintendent. The successful candidate will assume his/her position soon thereafter as is mutually agreeable.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
All employment offers are conditional, based upon the successful completion of the following: Fingerprint/background clearance and a tuberculosis clearance. A physical examination clearance is required for certain positions for the district. All candidates with a record of convictions must indicate such in the confidential/legal section of the application, which is attached to the job application. A record of conviction will not automatically disqualify an applicant from employment, but a failure to list all convictions may result in disqualification or dismissal.
