Walker Bowen Talent Partners, a trusted advisor in the permanent placement staffing industry, has partnered with a local Independent Investment Advisory firm to fill the critical role of Director of Financial Planning and Wealth Management on their growing team.

This is an onsite role in Chevy Chase, MD that allows for flexible scheduling.

A small, but growing Independent Investment Adviser in the Washington, DC area is expanding its client services platform and seeking an experienced financial planning professional to help build and lead this next chapter of growth.

WHO YOU ARE
This role is ideal for a senior financial planning professional who wants to shape a client-centered platform within a growing independent firm. You’ll have the opportunity to build something lasting - serving families through major life transitions while helping shape the strategic direction of the practice.

Working closely with the firm’s President and Portfolio Managers, you will play a central role in designing the planning experience, serving clients through meaningful financial decisions, and contributing to the long-term strategic direction of the practice.

We are looking for a seasoned professional with demonstrated growth and increasing responsibility in their career and who combines strong technical expertise (7+ years) with thoughtful client service, a desire to build something lasting.

THE ROLE

Client Advisory & Planning

  • Provide comprehensive financial planning and investment advisory services to individuals and families
  • Develop and implement retirement, tax, and risk management strategies
  • Coordinate estate planning efforts with outside counsel
  • Partner closely with Portfolio Managers to align planning and investment strategy
  • Serve as a trusted advisor during significant life and financial transitions

 

Practice Development & Growth

  • Build and maintain long-term client relationships rooted in trust and service
  • Contribute to sustainable firm growth through referrals, community engagement, and new client development
  • Help design and implement the firm’s financial planning infrastructure and service model

 

Operations & Leadership

  • Develop financial planning policies, procedures, and best practices
  • Identify and implement systems, tools, and workflows to support client excellence
  • Oversee client account opening, transfers, and ongoing account management
  • Maintain compliance and documentation standard
  • Stay current on regulatory, legislative, and industry developments
  • Maintain a personal commitment to continuing education for professional development and growth


Requirements

WHAT YOU BRING
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or related field
  • CFP® designation required; CFA, CPA, or MBA highly valued
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in financial planning
  • Demonstrated growth and increasing responsibility within prior roles
  • Strong analytical skills paired with thoughtful written and verbal communication
  • High ethical standards, discretion, and commitment to client confidentiality
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional client service
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and standard advisory technologies
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, Outlook and other office software technologies.
