DIRECTOR OF FINANCIAL OPERATIONS

Excavation & Site Development

Full-Time  |  On-Site  |  Competitive Compensation

THE OPPORTUNITY

We’re hiring a Director of Financial Operations. This position is built for someone who provides strategic financial leadership and guide long-term growth. This role requires a disciplined, forward-thinking professional who can align financial strategy with operational excellence in a dynamic, project-driven environment.

At RYCOE, we combine strong planning, advanced technology, and clear communication to help our clients move projects forward with confidence.

If you are ready to make a direct impact and be part of a team that values precision and execution, we want to hear from you.

WHAT YOU WILL OWN

Operational Financial Leadership

•       Attend project kickoffs, pre-bid reviews, and division-level P&L meetings as a financial partner, not a spectator

•       Conduct regular financial reviews with project managers and division leads, translating numbers into operational decisions

•       Provide real-time financial insight on bidding strategy, equipment ROI, and pricing decisions before commitments are made

•       Identify cost leakage, margin erosion, and operational waste across all divisions and drive corrective action

Job Costing & Project Financial Management

•       Own and continuously improve job costing systems across all excavation and site development projects

•       Track and analyze project costs (labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors) against budget in real time

•       Monitor WIP, over/under billing, retention, and project margins with a focus on early detection and course correction

•       Review subcontractor and vendor invoices for accuracy, contract compliance, and cost alignment

•       Partner with PMs to forecast project outcomes, flag risks early, and protect margins before problems become losses

Financial Reporting & Accounting Operations

•       Oversee all accounting functions including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, and month-end/year-end close

•       Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements with accuracy and timeliness

•       Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and construction industry requirements

•       Maintain strong internal controls and support audits and external reporting requirements

Budgeting, Forecasting & Cash Flow Management

•       Lead company-wide and project-level budgeting and rolling forecasts for revenue, costs, and cash flow

•       Monitor performance against budgets with variance analysis that includes actionable recommendations, not just numbers

•       Manage cash flow, billing cycles, retainage, and collections to maintain operational liquidity

Leadership & Process Improvement

•       Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff through hands-on daily involvement, not delegation from a distance

•       Collaborate daily with operations, project managers, estimators, and leadership across every division

•       Continuously improve financial systems, reporting, and processes for speed, accuracy, and operational relevance

WHO YOU ARE

You are a finance professional who wants to understand the business at the ground level and use that knowledge to make better financial decisions. You bring:

•       A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA preferred but not required if you bring the right experience)

•       Deep expertise in job costing, WIP reporting, and construction accounting, with end to end financial management and controllership

•       A track record of improving project margins, identifying cost leakage, or driving financial process improvements, not just maintaining the status quo

•       The ability and willingness to operate in a fast-paced, field-driven environment where plans change, conditions shift, and flexibility is essential

•       Excellent analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills with advanced proficiency in reporting and data tools

•       Communication skills that translate financial complexity into plain language for PMs, operators, and leadership

•        Ability to manage budgeting, forecasting and cash flow planning

WHAT WE OFFER

•       Competitive compensation based on experience

•       Medical, dental, and vision insurance

•       Company-paid life and short-term and long term disability insurance

•       401(k) with company match

•       On-site employee gym

•       State-of-the-art equipment and repair facility

•       Team-building events and continued education/training

•       Generous PTO and paid holidays

We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
