    Director of Finance

    Brooklyn, NY | Monsey, NY | Lakewood, NJ (Hybrid flexability)

    $250,000+ (Depending on Experience)


    Our client is seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Finance to lead the Controllership and Payroll functions across a growing portfolio of clients. This executive-level role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and quality of financial reporting while building high-performing teams and delivering exceptional client service.

    Reporting directly to the VP, the Director of Finance will oversee financial operations, strengthen internal controls, develop team members, and serve as a trusted advisor to both clients and executive leadership.



    Responsibilities:


    Financial Leadership:

    • Oversee the Controller and Payroll teams, ensuring accurate, timely, and high-quality financial reporting.
    • Review and approve monthly financial statements, close processes, and reporting packages.
    • Identify opportunities to improve internal controls, streamline workflows, and enhance financial processes.
    • Ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance across all financial operations.

    Client Partnership

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients, leading meetings, resolving issues, and building long-term relationships.
    • Deliver exceptional client service throughout the engagement lifecycle.
    • Collaborate closely with clients to understand their financial and operational needs.

    Leadership & Team Development

    • Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing finance and payroll teams.
    • Manage workload allocation, employee performance, coaching, and professional development.
    • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
    • Oversee teams of up to 100 employees across both local and offshore operations, including direct management of up to 7 team members.

    Operational Excellence

    • Partner with internal Centers of Excellence (COEs) to improve efficiency and cross-functional collaboration.
    • Contribute to company-wide strategic initiatives and organizational growth.
    • Implement scalable financial systems, processes, and best practices.
    • Communicate proactively with executive leadership regarding departmental performance, initiatives, and priorities.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
    • CPA or advanced degree is a plus.
    • Several years of progressive finance and accounting leadership experience.
    • Experience leading Controller, Accounting, or Finance teams.
    • Healthcare industry experience is preferred.
    • Experience working in a shared services or multi-client environment is highly preferred.
    • Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop high-performing teams.
    • Strong financial statement review and close management experience.
    • Experience improving financial processes and implementing operational efficiencies.
    • Technologically forward-thinking with experience adopting new systems and tools.
    • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and client management skills.
    • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
