Job Title: DIRECTOR OF FEDERAL PROGRAMS
Supervised by/Reports to: Executive Director of Curriculum & Instruction
FLSA Status: Exempt
Job Goals:
To provide leadership and management of federal programs funds to benefit the school system's instructional programs, facilities, and personnel.
To ensure the school system's compliance with federal programs rules, regulations, and guidelines.
Qualifications:
Master's degree from an accredited university or college.
Valid Alabama certificate in Educational Leadership, administration, and/or supervision.
Minimum of five (5) years successful classroom experience.
Minimum of two (2) years successful administrator experience (school or district level).
Possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
Knowledge of federal programs law and procedures.
Superior leadership, collaboration, and interpersonal skills and ability to be an instructional leader across multiple settings and to work collaboratively as a team member with large and/or diverse groups.
Proficiency in oral and written communication with the ability to produce and lead presentations through various data sources.
Ability to multi-task, to complete complex projects, to delegate appropriately, and to effectively prioritize tasks and assignments.
Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may require.
Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, goals and priorities.
Advocates, supports, promotes and communicates all aspects of the Jefferson County School System federal programs services and initiatives.
Works within the school system community to promote excellent customer service and provides expert insights into federal programs initiatives.
Supervises all federally funded programs.
Assists in assessment and evaluation of teachers and programs.
Collaborates with the CSFO and accounting staff to plan and manage federal budgets.
Collaborates with the Directors of Career Technical Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Exceptional Education and with the ESL Specialists to evaluate whether all sub-groups of students in Title I schools are making progress toward school system and state academic achievement and career readiness targets.
Serves as consultant to the professional staff and administrators on matters pertaining to federal programs.
Assists in the recruitment and screening of federally funded personnel.
Provides support for all first-year and non-tenured federally funded teachers.
Conducts research on current issues and best teaching practices to create federally funded professional development opportunities for designated teachers, school counselors, and administrators.
Serves as a resource to Title 1-funded teachers for locating and securing appropriate materials.
Represents the school system at state, federal, or regional meetings as assigned.
Leads professional development sessions at school sites as assigned.
Maintains a current inventory of all equipment purchased with federal funds.
Demonstrates the ability to multi-task, to supervise and complete complex projects, to delegate appropriately, and to effectively prioritize tasks and activities.
Maintains appropriate confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters in accordance with state and federal law.
Models and maintains high ethical standards.
Demonstrates initiative in identifying opportunities for improvement in areas of responsibility.
Participates successfully in training programs, professional development, or other learning to increase skill and proficiency related to job performance and leadership.
Serves on school/system committees as required.
Responds to inquiries and requests in a timely and positive manner.
Maintains and submits required reports, records, and correspondence in a timely and accurate manner.
Efficiently uses time and conserves system resources.
Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local law.
Reports absences and takes leave in accordance with Board policies and procedures.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned by Supervisor(s).
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk and use hands to finger, to handle, or feel objects, equipment, or controls. The employee frequently is required to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, bend, stoop, squat, and crouch and kneel. The employee must occasionally lift, push, pull carry and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include near vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Salary: Salary to be established by The Limestone County School's District Salary Schedule.
Terms of Employment: 240 days
