Position Overview
The Director of Faith Formation and Engagement provides leadership and direction for parish efforts that help people encounter Jesus Christ and grow as disciples. Working closely with the Pastor, this role oversees evangelization, faith formation, and ministry initiatives, ensuring they align with the parish mission and the teachings of the Catholic Church. The Director equips and supports lay leaders, strengthens parish ministries, and fosters a culture of missionary discipleship through effective leadership, collaboration, and ongoing development.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Pastor to develop and implement a clear vision for evangelization and parish vitality
- Lead and oversee parish ministry initiatives, ensuring alignment with the parish mission
- Direct evangelization efforts, including the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA)
- Oversee Religious Education Program and sacramental preparation for First Reconciliation, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation in collaboration with clergy, catechists, and families
- Support and develop adult faith formation opportunities, including programs, workshops, and special events
- Recruit, train, and support volunteer leaders to build strong and effective ministry teams
- Partner with parish staff and local parish leaders to share best practices and strengthen ministry efforts
- Ensure compliance with Archdiocesan policies, including Protecting God’s Children
- Lead special projects and other duties as assigned by the Pastor
Qualifications
- Practicing Catholic committed to the mission and teachings of the Church
- Experience in parish ministry, with a focus on evangelization and community building
- Proven ability to collaborate with clergy, staff, and volunteers
- Experience leading teams and managing ministry initiatives
- Strong understanding of forming missionary disciples
- Ability to foster a welcoming, inclusive parish environment
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to change
- Self-motivated, dependable, and detail-oriented
- Comfortable using technology for communication and coordination
- Culturally aware and sensitive to diverse communities
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Theology, Pastoral Studies, or related field
- 3+ years of parish staff experience

This position has a salary range of $50,000–$65,000. An employee’s pay within the range is based on relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, location & business needs.
