The Ridgefield Public Schools seeks a strategic, collaborative, and experienced facilities leader to serve as Director of Facilities effective July 1, 2026. The Director provides vision, leadership, and operational oversight for the planning, maintenance, safety, and improvement of all district facilities in support of student learning and district goals.

Professional Responsibilities:

• Leads and strategizes the planning, organizing, scheduling, budgeting and implementation of the school facilities goals and objectives in the most cost efficient and effective manner. • Oversees the daily operation of the school facilities department through hands-on teamwork with central office and school-based administration, and support staff. • Oversees district emergency management and security procedures and is the School Districts liaison to Town/State emergency management officials. • Exercises direct authority over all custodians, maintenance, HVAC and grounds keeping personnel. • Develops and implements strategies for efficient and cost-effective energy use in all school facilities. • Develops and administers the school facilities departments operating and capital budgets. • Partners with Town officials in coordinated efforts of buildings and campuses. • Develops and implements a long-range facilities master plan aligned with the Districts strategic plan and enrollment projections.

• Oversees capital improvement planning, construction projects, renovations, and major system upgrades. • Ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal codes and regulations, including OSHA, DEP, and Department of Education requirements. • Presents facilities-related reports and recommendations to the Superintendent and Board of Education. • Develops and monitors preventative maintenance programs to ensure safe, clean, and well-maintained facilities. • Oversees contract management for outsourced services (e.g. security systems, waste management, snow removal, etc.). • Oversees environmental compliance including indoor air quality, asbestos management, radon testing, and hazardous materials protocols. • Ensures compliance with ADA accessibility standards. • Utilizes facilities management software systems to track work orders, maintenance schedules, and asset management.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelors degree in Engineering, Public Administration or related field. Graduate degree preferable. • Over five years of supervisory experience, with at least three years managing building facilities, and/or real property operations, maintenance and repair. • Experience in administering large organizational budgets, including planning and overseeing capital project budgets. • Demonstrated knowledge of the basic principles of construction, maintenance, security, emergency management and energy management/conservation.

Other:

• Knowledge of Connecticut school construction grant processes preferred. • Experience working in a public school district or municipal environment is preferred. • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop diverse teams in a collaborative environment. • Strong communication and presentation skills. • Twelve-month position. Must be available for evening meetings and emergency response as needed. • Ability to respond to facility emergencies outside of regular working hours. • Ability to visit and inspect active construction sites and district facilities.

Salary Range: $145,000 - 160,000 depending upon experience and qualifications.
