Role Description

The Director of Events is a senior leadership role and a member of the Brasada Ranch Executive Committee, reporting directly to the Hotel General Manager. This position carries executive accountability for the full event lifecycle-from the first client conversation through flawless on-site execution-by unifying the Event Planning Team and Banquet Operations under a single, strategically aligned leader.

The ideal candidate is a hospitality professional who has excelled in both the planning/coordination side of events and the hands-on execution side of banquet operations. This dual expertise enables the Director of Events to bridge the gap between guest expectations set during the sales and planning process and the operational realities of delivering world-class banquet service-ensuring every event at Brasada Ranch is seamless, memorable, and profitable.

General Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise the Banquet Manager, providing strategic guidance, performance oversight, and operational alignment between planning and execution.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Event Planning Team, assigning events to planners based on expertise, client needs, and workload balance.
  • Set clear department goals, KPIs, and service standards for all direct and indirect reports within the Events division.
  • Sets and upholds standards for event detailing, BEO accuracy, and operational communication across the team. Personally leads planning for select high-revenue or high-touch groups; remains hands-on with execution details during the initial ramp period as team standards are established.
  • Develop a high-performance culture grounded in accountability, collaboration, and guest-obsessed service.
  • Conduct regular one-on-ones, performance evaluations, and development conversations for all direct reports.
  • Champion workforce planning, seasonal staffing strategies, and succession planning within the department.
  • Owns operational execution of all groups and resort programming; partners with Club leadership on member programming, with clear lines on calendar, P&L, and on-site ownership
  • Ensure timely and accurate communication between the Event Planning Team, clients, and all resort operations departments throughout the event lifecycle.
  • Ensure each assigned Event Planner serves as the recognized on-site contact during their events, providing active support and decisive resolution of challenges.
  • Oversee event design, including concepts, themes, décor, lighting, signage, and layout, ensuring alignment with Brasada Ranch brand identity.
  • Owns the systems and workflows that support the events business - Delphi, BEO flow, operational communication standards, and forecasting/reporting cadence - and drives ongoing process improvement
  • Collaborate with Northview Marketing and all property departments to ensure accurate and timely representation of programming across digital and on-property channels.
  • Provide strategic leadership to the Banquet Manager, ensuring banquet service operations are executed in alignment with approved BEOs and brand standards.
  • Hold the Banquet Manager accountable for departmental financial results, including banquet service labor, beverage cost, linen, paper goods, floral, décor, and other operating expenses.
  • Partner with the Banquet Manager and Culinary team to drive consistent quality, timing, and presentation across all banquet service.
  • Collaborate on the annual banquet budget, monthly forecasts, and operational reporting in partnership with the Hotel GM and Finance.
  • Identify process improvements that reduce friction between the planning and execution handoff, improving the guest experience and operational efficiency.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the Events division and all resort departments-Culinary, F&B Outlets, Club, Golf, Spa, Guest Services, Facilities, and Finance-ensuring seamless operational alignment.
  • Partner with the Director of Sales as a shared owner of the client experience - from contract through execution - including joint pacing reviews, account strategy, and ongoing operational alignment
  • Partner with the Director of Sales and Finance on the commercial strategy for the events business - including profitability, space utilization, demand pacing, pricing, and competitive positioning - bringing the operational and execution lens to shared decision-making.

Skills/Traits

  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Event Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent professional experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive experience in event planning, conference services, or catering sales at a luxury or full-service resort environment.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on banquet operations or Food & Beverage management experience-this dual background is essential to the role.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a senior leadership or department-head role, with demonstrated success managing multi-layered teams.
  • Experience at a Four Diamond or higher property strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing, multi-functional teams in a fast-paced resort environment.
  • Executive presence and communication skills, with the ability to represent the department at the leadership level and in client-facing settings.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple events and operational priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong financial acumen, including experience managing department P&Ls, labor costs, and budget forecasting.
  • Strategic thinker with a hands-on, solutions-oriented approach to problem solving.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and extended hours as required by event and resort schedules.
