    JOB DESCRIPTION

    TITLE: Director of ESL, District-Wide (.8)

    REPORTS TO: Reports directly to Central Office Administration to be determined by Superintendent

    JOB GOAL: To coordinate and supervise all components of ESL programs and services district-wide; to provide instructional leadership to ESL teachers and staff members district-wide; to build positive working relationships with all constituents.

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Implements the Districts plan for delivering ESL services and supports and communicates this plan to district and school administration, staff, and the public.
    • Serves as a liaison between the central office administrators, building principals, department leaders, classroom teachers, students, and parents.
    • Works with school-based staff members to enroll students.
    • Maintain updates to the District''s EL roster. Familiar with Edwin Analytics and maintains compliance with DESE ELE regulations related to SEI endorsed staff.
    • Oversees the maintenance of student EL files and growth targets in accordance with the requirements of DESE.
    • Assessments: Coordinates/conducts/supports assessments of EL students as outlined by DESE, including MCAS & ACCESS assessments and the mandated state & local testing requirements.
    • Tiered Focus Monitoring: Facilitates the development, implementation, and evaluation of the district''s PreK-12 ESL programs, common assessments, and curriculum.
    • PD & Use of Student Data: Works collaboratively with teachers and focuses on developing teacher expertise in the PreK-12 ESL curriculum in order to implement a guaranteed viable curriculum using student data to refine teaching practices in the PreK-12 ESL curriculum.
    • Assists in constructing a vision and three-year plan for PreK-12 ESL education.
    • Dually Identified: Assists staff with utilizing data to inform instruction and works collaboratively when students require support from special education.
    • Leads and actively participates in the EL Parent Advisory Council.
    • Oversees the plan to assist teachers in obtaining SEI Endorsements required for licensure.
    • Writes, oversees, and manages all aspects of the Title III grant and other EL-related grants as they become available.
    • Organize summer programming for EL students K-12.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
