About the Role

We are seeking a highly technical and strategic Director of Identity & Access Management Engineering to lead and evolve a complex enterprise IAM program within a large-scale, highly matrixed organization.

This role is ideal for a seasoned IAM leader with deep architecture and engineering expertise who can operate comfortably at both the executive and technical levels. The right individual will have the ability to communicate effectively with C-suite leadership while also remaining highly hands-on within the environment, guiding technical direction, mentoring engineers, and driving execution across critical identity initiatives.

You will lead a growing IAM organization responsible for identity governance, authentication, cloud identity, privileged access, non-human identity governance, and enterprise identity modernization initiatives. This individual will play a critical role in designing scalable identity architectures, defining operational risk strategies, and ensuring security controls align with business and regulatory objectives.

This is not a purely managerial role. The ideal candidate will be deeply technical, understand the underlying code and integrations, and serve as a mentor and technical leader for the engineering team while empowering technical leads and giving visibility and credit to their contributions.

Key Responsibilities
Lead and mentor a team of IAM engineers and technical leads supporting enterprise identity initiatives
Define and drive the strategic roadmap for Identity & Access Management across the organization
Architect and guide the implementation of scalable IAM, IGA, SSO, PAM, and Non-Human Identity (NHI) governance solutions
Partner closely with executive leadership, cybersecurity, infrastructure, cloud, application, and business teams to align identity strategy with organizational goals
Translate complex technical concepts into executive-level discussions and business outcomes
Design secure, scalable operational risk and identity governance frameworks
Act as the senior technical authority across IAM architecture, integrations, automation, and security controls
Provide hands-on technical guidance around integrations, APIs, workflows, and engineering best practices
Mentor engineers and technical leads while fostering a collaborative, high-accountability culture
Drive enterprise adoption of identity governance and security best practices across a complex hybrid environment
Evaluate emerging identity technologies and help shape long-term modernization strategies
Lead cross-functional initiatives involving cloud identity, AI-related identity governance, automation, and security operations
Required Qualifications
15+ years of experience within Identity & Access Management, Cybersecurity, or Enterprise Security Engineering
Proven experience leading and scaling enterprise IAM teams in large, complex organizations
Strong executive communication skills with experience presenting to senior leadership and C-suite stakeholders
Deep technical expertise across modern IAM architecture and engineering
Ability to remain hands-on technically while leading large-scale strategic initiatives
Strong mentorship and leadership capabilities with experience developing high-performing engineering teams
Technical Expertise

Strong experience with:

SailPoint IdentityNow / Identity Security Cloud
Okta and Universal Directory
AWS and Azure identity services
Identity Governance & Administration (IGA)
Single Sign-On (SSO)
Privileged Access Management (PAM)
Non-Human Identity (NHI) governance
Operational Risk Architecture
Security protocols and enterprise security frameworks
Identity lifecycle automation and orchestration
API integrations and enterprise workflow design
Cloud and hybrid identity environments

Experience with the following is highly preferred:
