HCEPInc is seeking an experienced Director of Emergency Services to provide strategic leadership for a high-performing Emergency Department in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing clinical operations, departmental performance, quality initiatives, financial stewardship, and regulatory compliance while ensuring exceptional patient-centered emergency care.
The ideal candidate is a collaborative nurse leader with a strong background in emergency services, operational excellence, staff development, and quality improvement who is passionate about creating a culture of accountability, innovation, and exceptional patient outcomes.
Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of the Emergency Department to ensure safe, efficient, and patient-centered care.
Collaborate with physicians, nursing leadership, and interdisciplinary teams to improve patient throughput, care coordination, and the overall patient experience.
Monitor departmental performance metrics including length of stay, door-to-provider time, left-without-being-seen rates, and patient satisfaction, implementing improvement initiatives as needed.
Direct staffing, scheduling, budgeting, resource allocation, and financial performance to support operational excellence.
Lead emergency preparedness planning and coordinate departmental readiness for disaster response and mass casualty events.
Ensure compliance with The Joint Commission, CMS, state regulations, and organizational policies.
Develop, implement, and evaluate departmental policies, procedures, and quality improvement initiatives.
Recruit, mentor, coach, and develop department leaders and staff while fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous professional growth.
Respond to patient care concerns, operational issues, and critical incidents, ensuring timely resolution and effective communication.

Collaborative Multidisciplinary Team
Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a related field required, or seven (7) years of directly related experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
Master's degree preferred.
Three (3) to five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in Emergency Services or a closely related clinical setting required.
Three (3) to five (5) years of healthcare leadership experience preferred.
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state or Compact State Licensure required.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred.
Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification preferred.
Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification preferred.
Strong leadership, financial management, communication, and organizational skills.
Experience leading quality improvement initiatives, regulatory compliance, strategic planning, and operational performance within an Emergency Department.
