Director of Email and Innovation

Honey Fox Strategies is seeking a highly analytical, innovative, and results-driven Director of Email and Innovation to lead the development, optimization, and execution of sophisticated email fundraising programs for conservative causes, candidates, and organizations. This leadership role combines strategic thinking, technical expertise, and fundraising experience to maximize donor engagement, revenue generation, and inbox performance across a diverse portfolio of clients.The ideal candidate is equally comfortable building Excel reports, coding and troubleshooting HTML emails, analyzing campaign performance, and developing innovative approaches to email deliverability and donor acquisition.This role reports to the Chief of Staff and is fully remote.

Key Responsibilities
Email Strategy & Innovation

• Develop and execute cutting-edge email fundraising strategies for conservative political and advocacy organizations.
• Identify and implement new technologies, testing, and audience engagement tactics.
• Lead continuous optimization of campaign performance through rigorous A/B testing and data analysis.
• Research emerging trends in email marketing, fundraising, and digital communications.

Fundraising Leadership

• Design and oversee email fundraising programs
• Analyze fundraising performance and provide actionable recommendations to improve results.
• Develop donor segmentation strategies.

Deliverability & Technical Operations

• Serve as the firm's subject matter expert on email deliverability best practices.
• Monitor sender reputation, inbox placement, authentication protocols (SPF, DKIM, DMARC), and compliance requirements.
• Diagnose and resolve deliverability issues across multiple ESPs and sending domains.
• Establish deliverability monitoring, reporting, and optimization processes.

Data & Analytics

• Build and maintain advanced reporting systems.
• Analyze large datasets to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
• Create dashboards and reports that communicate campaign performance to internal teams and clients.
• Use data-driven insights to guide strategic decision-making.

HTML & Email Production

• Develop, troubleshoot, and optimize responsive HTML email templates.
• Ensure compatibility across major email clients and devices.

Team Leadership

• Mentor and develop email strategists.
• Establish best practices and operational processes across the email program.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with account management, creative, fundraising, and data teams.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in email marketing, digital fundraising, or political fundraising.
• Demonstrated success managing large-scale email fundraising programs.
• Experience working with conservative political, advocacy, nonprofit, or fundraising organizations.
• Strong understanding of donor behavior and direct response fundraising principles.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookup functions, data modeling, and performance analysis.
• Proficiency in HTML and CSS for email development and troubleshooting.
• Deep knowledge of email deliverability, sender reputation management, authentication protocols, and inbox placement.
• Experience with major email service providers and CRM platforms.
