Primary Purpose:

Under the direction of the Education Foundation's Board of Directors, the Director of the Education Foundation (DEF) plans, directs, develops, administers, supervises, and implements a comprehensive development, advertising, marketing, and corporate partnership program that complements, supports, and provides financial assistance to the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District (CFBISD).

The DEF oversees the administrative and operational functions necessary to carry out the Foundation's mission and objectives and provides regular progress reports and financial data to the Board of Directors of the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Education Foundation (Foundation) regarding all aspects of Foundation programs, operations, and business.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited University required; Master's degree preferred

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Proven history of meeting or exceeding fundraising goals preferred
  • Ability to work with business, community and public entities
  • Ability to provide effective oral and written correspondence, proposals, marketing materials, grants, and solicitations
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Knowledge of public education or school district organization
  • Knowledge of volunteer management techniques

Preferred Experience:

  • Ten (10) years of experience in two or more of the following areas preferred: non-profit management, fundraising, public relations, communications and marketing with experience in working for a volunteer Board of Directors

Major Responsibilities/Duties:

  1. In collaboration with the CFBISD-EF Board of Directors and CFBISD staff, build, maintain, cultivate, and solicit existing and new prospects for major donor gifts, planned giving, and annual campaigns

  2. Use prospect research to develop and implement ongoing donor cultivation, solicitation, acknowledgment, recognition, and stewardship strategies

  3. Develop, plan, and implement a comprehensive annual fund program, including Business Partners, Alumni Programs, and other fundraising initiatives

  4. Represent the District in community, governmental, and professional organizations; deliver presentations and reports in support of the District's and Foundation's fundraising programs and collaborative efforts

  5. Coordinate with faculty, staff, administrators, and other departments to prioritize fundraising needs and engage in creative and collaborative fund development strategies

  6. Coordinate, develop, and disseminate District and Foundation publications, including informational brochures, reports, direct mail promotions, and other materials; develop and implement marketing strategies that reflect the mission and goals of CFBISD and CFBISD-EF to promote a comprehensive gift program

  7. Raise public awareness of the Foundation

  8. Under the direction of the CFBISD-EF Board of Directors, plan, develop, and manage the Foundation's budget; oversee and manage Foundation assets and disbursements, including endowed funds; supervise the financial accounting system for fiscal activities; and ensure completion and maintenance of all tax filings, audits, and reports required to maintain 501(c)(3) status

  9. Build and maintain effective working relationships with the community, CFBISD School Board, administration, and staff to develop and meet shared goals and objectives

  10. Develop, manage, and direct the Foundation's process for receiving, reviewing, and awarding educational grants that support the CFBISD core mission

  11. Monitor state and federal legislation affecting educational foundations and school district fundraising in Texas; keep the Chief Communications Officer and CFBISD-EF Board of Directors informed of changes that may impact fundraising programs and practices; interpret and apply rules, regulations, and District policies

  12. Provide annual and periodic reports, as requested, regarding fundraising activities, plans, and other District and CFBISD-EF initiatives

  13. Oversee administrative tasks required to carry out the Foundation's mission and objectives

  14. Perform all other duties as assigned by the Chief Communications Officer or designee and/or on behalf of the CFBISD-EF Board of Directors
