The Director of Digital Programs, under the direction of the AVP for Digital Learning, provides leadership in the design, implementation, and expansion of digital learning initiatives, with a focus on digital badging and microcredentialing. This role is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing policies and procedures to ensure the effective management of these programs. Serving in an advisory and consultative capacity, the director helps shape the strategic direction of digital learning efforts in alignment with institutional goals and workforce needs. The position collaborates with academic and administrative stakeholders to integrate microcredentials into academic and co-curricular offerings and develops proposals, recommendations, and reports for senior leadership to support innovation, compliance, and continuous improvement in digital learning initiatives.
Job Function
Lead the strategic development and implementation of microcredentialing and other innovative digital education initiatives.
Direct initiatives by managing program operations, implementing improvements, and evaluating effectiveness to drive continuous innovation.
Develop and implement policies and procedures that ensure effective and compliant management of programs.
Manage proposal and approval processes for micro-credentials and digital badges.
Communicate the value and benefits of microcredentials through targeted marketing and communication strategies.
Build and maintain relationships with campus and industry partners to support collaborative projects and credential alignment.
Collaborate with faculty, staff, and external stakeholders to ensure digital credentials meet workforce needs and institutional priorities.
Design and implement assessment measures to evaluate the effectiveness and impact of digital credentialing initiatives.
Serve as the primary contact and administrator for the universitys digital badging platform.
Monitor trends and emerging technologies in digital learning to inform program innovation and strategic planning.
Represent the university in professional networks and partnerships related to digital learning and microcredentialing.
Marginal Functions
May represent the university on local, system-wide, or state committees.
During declared campus emergencies, this position may be required to perform specific job-related duties at a designated off-campus location or place of residence.
Departmental Requirements:
Familiarity with microcredentialing and digital badging concepts and platforms.
Strong understanding of higher education trends, accreditation standards, and workforce-aligned credentialing.
Proven ability to develop and implement policies, procedures, and strategic plans.
Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work across academic and administrative units.
Demonstrated ability to manage large projects and initiatives.
Ability to forge strong working relationships with others and a capacity for engaging confidence and trust.
Supervision Received:
Broad policy guidance and direction. The incumbent exercises a high level of discretion and decision-making and has broad authority for making policy and developing plans to accomplish the mission.
Level of Public Contact:
Frequent internal contacts across organizational lines, particularly within Academic and Student Affairs and Information Technology Services. Frequent contact with University employers in coordination with Career Services. Some contact with other external agency personnel.
Monetary Responsibility:
Makes expenditure recommendations.
Policymaking and/or Interpretation:
Provides leadership, guidance, and coordination in the formulation, development, and implementation of operational and university policies and procedures related to microcredentialing and distance learning. Interprets and assures co pliance with federal and state statutes, as well as BOG and university policies.
Program Direction and Development:
Oversees the development, implementation, and interpretation of microcredentialing and other innovative programs.
Required Qualifications:
This position requires either (a) Masters degree from an acceptable accredited institution in a directly related area of specialization and six years of experience directly related to the job functions; (b) Bachelors degree from an acceptable accredited institution in a directly related area of specialization and eight years of experience directly related to the job functions; or (c ) 12 years of direct experience.
