Director of Development

The DOD will work collaboratively with the Dean of the dental school and the Assistant Dean of Development and Alumni Relations, Health Sciences as well as other stakeholders to support the advancement of the Kornberg's mission of excellence in education, research, and patient care, with the goal of facilitating and managing activities to create and support a pipeline of annual and major giving prospects to achieve fundraising goals. In collaboration with the Dean of the dental school and the Assistant Dean of Development and Alumni Relations, Health Sciences, the Dentistry the DOD will lead strategic fundraising and alumni engagement initiatives and advancing the Kornberg's philanthropic priorities.

SALARY RANGE: $85,000 to $90,000/annual
A variety of important factors are reviewed by HR when considering salary, including job duties, the applicant's education and experience, all relevant internal equity considerations, department budget, and funding source.

The DOD will work collaboratively with the Dean of the dental school and the Assistant Dean of Development and Alumni Relations, Health Sciences as well as other stakeholders to support the advancement of the Kornberg's mission of excellence in education, research, and patient care, with the goal of facilitating and managing activities to create and support a pipeline of annual and major giving prospects to achieve fundraising goals.

Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree and at least six years of fundraising and/or related experience successfully utilizing the required skills and abilities noted below. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills and Abilities:
*Knowledge of, and experience with, both the art and science of major gift fundraising
*Demonstrated ability to raise and close gifts
*Proven ability to engage and interact effectively with diverse constituents and serve as a charismatic ambassador
*Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to express information, including funding needs and giving opportunities
*Demonstrated interpersonal skills and success with developing and sustaining relationships with key constituents
*Proven ability to take initiative and work both independently and collaboratively, as appropriate
*Conversational knowledge of basic planned/estate gift vehicles and concepts
*Attention to detail and ability to balance multiple priorities in a complex, fast-paced environment
*Commitment to professional development, learning, and being mentored
*Strong work ethic and determination to achieve goals
*Capability with Microsoft 365, as well as Banner, FPM (Blackbaud), or similar CRM/fundraising databases
*Ability to travel and work evening/weekend hours, as needed

Preferred Skills and Abilities:
