Position Summary
We are seeking a strategic, relationship-driven Director of Development to lead and expand our fundraising efforts. This individual will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing a comprehensive development strategy, strengthening donor relationships, and elevating donor communications across all levels.
This is a full-time, hybrid position based in Austin, Texas.
The ideal candidate is a confident and experienced fundraising professional with a proven ability to secure major gifts, manage campaigns, and build lasting partnerships. Experience with conservation-focused or Texas-based foundations and corporate partners is highly valued. Occasional domestic and international travel may be required.
Key Qualifications
3-5+ years of nonprofit fundraising experience required
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated success in securing major gifts and launching fundraising initiatives
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing demands
Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and integrity
Experience with donor CRM systems, email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp), and Google Ad Grant management preferred
Existing relationships with Texas and/or conservation-focused funders are a strong plus
Core Responsibilities
Lead the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors and funding partners
Partner closely with the Executive Director on major gift strategy and solicitations
Develop and execute compelling donor communications across all giving levels, including correspondence on behalf of the Executive Director
Prepare high-quality materials for donor outreach, grant proposals, and capital campaigns
Oversee and maintain the accuracy and integrity of donor CRM data
Design and implement a fundraising strategy for an Education Center project, including a capital campaign
Collaborate with the Communications Coordinator to enhance the effectiveness of digital outreach, advertising, and social media engagement
Ensure full compliance with grant requirements, including tracking deliverables, reporting, and timelines
