Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Director of Data Governance & Data Quality for a rapidly growing, private education services organization that partners with schools nationwide to deliver innovative operational and technology solutions. This full-time hybrid opportunity is based in the Chandler, Arizona area. Hybrid schedule: onsite 2-3 days / week. Must be local to the Chandler area.

Our client is seeking a collaborative and strategic Director of Data Governance & Data Quality to establish and lead an enterprise-wide data governance program that improves trust, consistency, and accountability across the organization. This leader will partner closely with business and technology teams to define data ownership, strengthen data quality, standardize key business metrics, and ensure data is reliable for operational and executive decision-making. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and lead the organization's enterprise data governance program, including governance standards, stewardship models, and decision-making frameworks.
  • Establish data ownership and accountability across critical business domains while partnering with business leaders to define and maintain trusted data assets and key business metrics.
  • Design and oversee processes for data quality management, including issue identification, root-cause analysis, remediation, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineering, Business Intelligence, and business stakeholders to ensure certified datasets, dashboards, and reports are accurate, consistent, and aligned with business objectives.
  • Create governance processes that evaluate the downstream impact of system, workflow, and data model changes before implementation.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between business and technology teams, translating technical concepts into clear business outcomes and promoting enterprise-wide adoption of governance best practices.
  • Partner with Security, Legal, and business leaders to support appropriate data access, privacy, retention, and governance standards across the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, Data Analytics, or a related field or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in data governance, data quality, data management, analytics operations, data strategy, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience building or maturing enterprise data governance programs within complex, multi-system environments.
  • Experience establishing data ownership, stewardship models, business definitions, certification processes, and governance standards.
  • Strong understanding of modern data platforms and analytics technologies, including Snowflake, dbt, Tableau, or comparable cloud-based data and BI tools.
  • Experience implementing data quality frameworks, governance workflows, change management processes, and issue resolution practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with executive leadership, business stakeholders, and technical teams to drive organizational alignment.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills with the ability to influence without direct authority.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

This position offers a competitive compensation range of $135-155k/yr (DOE) plus a 10% annual bonus along with comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, retirement savings opportunities, paid time off, holidays, and additional employee wellness and professional development benefits.
