Position Details
JOB SUMMARY: The Curriculum Director will have district-wide executive responsibility in areas of curriculum, instruction, assessment, staff development, and school improvement. The director will provide leadership in the development, implementation, and coordination of the District's curriculum. The Curriculum Director shall report to the Superintendent of Schools.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (May include but not be limited to):
- Provides effective leadership in organization, development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum and instructional services;
- Provides leadership to coordinate and implement an effective professional development program for PreK-12 professional staff aligned with strategic plan;
- Coordinates the District's and building(s) School Improvement Plans, Annual School Reports, and State reports, ensuring they align with the District Strategic Plan;
- Provides administrative, professional, and nonprofessional staff information concerning research, developments, and best practices in education;
- Coordinates local and state PreK-12 assessments and analyzes data providing appropriate curricular recommendations;
- Represents Woodhaven-Brownstown School District by attending Wayne RESA Curriculum Director meetings, State and Federal Program Director meetings, RESA GSRP meetings, and other curricular related meetings;
- Provides leadership to all curricular sub-committees, including the Curriculum Study Council;
- Develops, recommends, and monitors district policies related to instructional program;
- Collaborates with building level administrators and the Director of Finance, to oversee State and Federal programs; including, but not limited to, planning, budgeting and reporting;
- Provides input to the Superintendent of Schools regarding the implementation and efficacy of curriculum and instructional initiatives at the building/department level;
- Develops, implements, and evaluates an articulated program for the improvement of instruction;
- Coordinate and lead K-12 comprehensive summer programs;
- Directs and organizes the implementation instructional policies and educational programs by building principals and program directors;
- Develops, coordinate, and oversee the Multi-Tier System of Support at all levels;
- Ensures curricular and instructional programs are implemented with fidelity across the District;
- Develops and monitors the budget of the Curriculum Department;
- Provides regular reports to the school community, including staff, parents, and stakeholders, on the progress of the District's curricular programs;
- Assists in various phases of the total educational program as requested by the Superintendent of Schools.
- Serves as the District SCECH Coordinator;
- Oversee District Virtual Learning programs;
- Oversee the GSRP classrooms;
- Possess a Master's Degree from accredited educational institution with an emphasis in administration and curriculum or related field;
- Holds, or is able to obtain, a valid Michigan Permanent or Continuing Certificate and State Administrative Certificate;
- A minimum of five years successful teaching and five years successful administrative experience in a K-12 school setting;
- Substantial graduate level coursework related to curriculum, instruction, and educational leadership beyond Master's Degree;
