PRIMARY PURPOSE:

  • The Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Accountability provide leadership and oversight for all district curriculum, instruction, assessment, and accountability functions. This position ensures the effective development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum and instructional programs aligned to district goals and student achievement outcomes. The Director plans, coordinates, and monitors districtwide accountability systems, including PEIMS data integrity, state and federal reporting requirements, and the Texas A-F Accountability System, while establishing goals and strategies to support continuous improvement and academic excellence.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/ CERTIFICATION:

  • Master's degree in educational leadership, Curriculum and Instruction, or Educational Administration
  • Valid Texas Principal or other Mid-Management Certificate
  • At least five years of successful campus administrative or leadership experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience analyzing student performance data and leading continuous improvement efforts to increase student achievement.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Texas A-F Accountability System, PEIMS, CCMR, College, Career, and Military Readiness indicators, and state and federal accountability requirements.
  • Ability to manage budget and personnel.
  • Proficiency with data management systems, student information systems, PEIMS reporting, and educational data analysis tools.
  • Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Oversee the development and delivery of curriculum and instructional programs that incorporate district goals and support student achievement.
  • Participate in the district-level decision-making process to establish and review the district's goals and objectives and major classroom instructional programs. Ensure that goals and objectives are developed using effective collaborative processes and problem-solving techniques.
  • Monitor and reevaluate instructional programs on an ongoing basis using input from teachers and principals, applied research, and student data to determine effectiveness and improve outcomes. Recommend changes and adjustments where appropriate.
  • Prepares purchase requisitions and maintains reports, records, budget adjustments, memorandums, and correspondence as needed.
  • Collaborate with curriculum supervisors, Deans of Instruction, principals, administrators, teachers, and other instructional staff to develop, maintain, and revise curriculum documents based on a systematic review and analysis.
  • Engage instructional staff in evaluating and selecting instructional tools and materials to meet student learning needs.
  • Oversee staff development programs and provide effective activities that support instructional programs, incorporate input from teachers and principals, and are consistent with the district's mission.
  • Oversee the implementation of the designated teacher appraisal system.
  • Implement the policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy in curriculum and instruction area.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents as required.
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Develop and administer the curriculum and instruction budget based on documented program needs and ensure that operations are cost effective and funds are managed prudently.
  • Prepare, review, and revise job descriptions in curriculum and instruction department.
  • Evaluate job performance of employees to ensure effectiveness.
  • Select, train, evaluate, and supervise staff and make recommendations relative to assignment, retention, discipline, and dismissal.
  • Articulate the district's mission, instructional philosophy, and curriculum implementation strategies to the community and solicit its support in realizing district's mission.
  • Use appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement.
  • Disaggregates, analyzes, disseminates, and prepares reports for testing data and the A-F state accountability system.
  • Communicates to the supervisor the requests of institutes of higher learning and MOUs related to potential or existing partnerships.
  • Secures program approval at the college and state levels and ensures curricular compliance with institutional, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Lead the district''s implementation and monitoring of the Texas A-F Accountability System.
  • Monitor accountability indicators, including Academic Achievement, School Progress, Closing the Gaps, and CCMR.
  • Analyze district, campus, and student performance data and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Develop accountability reports and presentations for district leadership, Board of Trustees, and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with district and campus administrators to develop improvement plans aligned with accountability goals.
  • Monitor legislative and Texas Education Agency (TEA) accountability updates and communicate changes to district personnel. Oversee student, staff, program, and financial data reporting requirements.
  • Serve as the district liaison with TEA regarding PEIMS and accountability matters.
  • Develop systems and processes that promote effective data governance and data-driven decision-making.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
