The Director, Business Development is responsible for designing and overseeing strategies that drive growth, enhance market presence, and ensure the operational efficiency of the facility and its clinics. This role focuses on building and maintaining customer and physician relationships, aligning business development efforts with the facility's strategic goals, and fostering collaboration between clinical and administrative teams to achieve long-term success.
Essential Functions
+ Leads business development efforts by identifying opportunities for expansion, creating strategic marketing plans, and fostering strong relationships with physicians, healthcare professionals, and community stakeholders.
+ Oversees the operational and financial performance of clinics, ensuring efficient resource utilization and high-quality healthcare delivery.
+ Monitors and manages physician employment agreements, professional service agreements, and contract provisions, ensuring timely reviews, renewals, and adherence to institutional policies.
+ Prepares and manages annual operational and capital budgets for practices, analyzing financial performance and implementing corrective action plans for budget variances.
+ Conducts regular on-site visits to clinics, meeting with physicians and staff to review performance, address operational needs, and develop improvement strategies.
+ Ensures healthcare providers are appropriately credentialed with Medicare, Medicaid, and other health plans, maintaining compliance with regulatory and institutional standards.
+ Assists with the recruitment and retention of physicians and advanced practice providers (e.g., nurse practitioners, physician assistants) to support practice growth.
+ Provides leadership and guidance for practice staff, ensuring appropriate training, development, and workload assignment to meet operational goals.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
+ Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
+ Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field required
+ 5-7 years of experience in healthcare business development, physician practice management, or a related field required
+ 2-4 years of leadership experience required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
+ Strong knowledge of healthcare operations, physician practice management, and regulatory compliance standards.
+ Excellent leadership and communication skills to collaborate with diverse teams and build strong relationships with stakeholders.
+ Financial acumen to analyze budgets, monitor financial performance, and implement corrective action plans.
+ Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills to identify growth opportunities and improve operational efficiency.
+ Proficiency in healthcare software systems, data analysis tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Established from the roots of Inland Empire Community Health Center in Bloomington, CHSI has grown with community health centers in the counties of Riverside, San Bernardino, and San Diego. These centers have been developed in accordance with standards established for safety net providers by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA), the Public Health Service (PHS), and the Bureau of Primary Health Care (BPHC).
As such, services are offered to the neediest in each community - the un-insured and under-insured, the working poor, those with limited ability to pay, the homeless, and the indigent.
