Title: Director of Construction (Travel throughout FL)
The Director of Construction is responsible for the leadership, execution, and performance of all construction activities across the company’s portfolio of affordable and market rate multi family projects. This role ensures projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with financial, regulatory, and quality requirements.
You are responsible for building structure, accountability, and consistency across multiple projects while preparing the organization for growth through defined processes and procedures.
YOU WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
Leadership and Oversight: Lead and manage all construction operations across multiple projects, oversee Project Executives, Project Managers, and field teams, establish clear expectations and accountability for performance, drive consistency in execution across all projects.
Project Execution: Provide oversight from project start through closeout, ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget, resolve high risk issues and remove obstacles for the team, maintain alignment between schedule, cost, and field execution.
Financial Performance: Oversee project budgets, cost control, and forecasting, ensure accurate cost to complete and financial reporting, identify risks early and implement corrective actions, align construction execution with financial performance goals.
Preconstruction Coordination: Coordinate with preconstruction and development teams on budgeting, scope alignment, and constructability, support value engineering and procurement strategies, ensure alignment and a smooth transition from preconstruction to operations without direct oversight responsibility.
Schedule and Delivery: Ensure project schedules are realistic and maintained, hold teams accountable to milestones and completion dates, identify and address delays proactively, align field production with overall project timelines.
Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements specific to affordable housing including funding, reporting, and documentation requirements, maintain quality and safety standards across all projects, reduce exposure through proper documentation and process.
Process Development and Scalability: Develop and implement standardized processes and procedures across construction operations, create repeatable systems for project execution, reporting, and team coordination, support company expansion by building infrastructure that allows for controlled growth and consistency.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with development, finance, and preconstruction teams, provide clear communication on project status, risks, and performance, support decision making with accurate and timely information, maintain alignment across all stakeholders.
DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?
Experience leading construction operations for multi family projects including affordable and market rate
Strong understanding of construction processes, budgets, and scheduling
Experience managing multiple projects and teams
Familiarity with affordable housing compliance and funding requirements preferred
Experience building or improving operational processes
Strong leadership presence,

Able to build structure while managing multiple priorities, focused on execution and results
